Today I am happy to announce a new project for OpenXRay - a full scale reimplementation of the famous Gunslinger Mod.
The goal of the project is to achieve a 1:1 match of both functionality and polish of the original Gunslinger Mod. We want to keep the vanilla story intact while adding new, modern (optional) features. Eventually there will be support for the full STALKER trilogy, once OpenXRay has full support.

Since I started working on this mod, one of the main things that has pushed me forward is the fact that I want to replay a remastered version of CoP in anticipation of Stalker 2! I hope people can be respectful and enjoy both :)

Valve has always championed community created content above any other gaming company that's even remotely comparable in size and relevance. Also, as per your original comment: I think that's an inaccurate and overly pessimistic framing of the dynamic between "official developers" / publishers and modders, which in reality is largely symbiotic - the companies GREATLY profit from a healthy modding scene as it's kind of like outsourcing content development to a third party which works for free, while still requiring people to buy the base game in order to play said content. The worst thing that can happen is companies trying to monetize modding in unethical and nonsensical ways, like Bethesda does with their Creation Club garbage. But, given the negative community reception, I don't think we need to worry about systems like these becoming common place - especially because it's practically impossible for publishers to prevent (legally or otherwise) a traditional modding infrastructure from existing.

It'd be cool from GSC to make an API (I'm not entirely sure, if it's the correct term; interface to interact and manipulate the game files, easying modifications) in Stalker 2, to give back to players, for coding mind-blowing modifications and keeping this frenchise alive for so many years

Отлично, что кто-то взялся за переделку мода, Strifer говорил, что тот программист, который писал код для игры, точно знал, что ничего не будет переделывать(да и давно это было) и они не рассчитывали на 64х движок.
