Maria Callas, born December 2nd, 1923, was an Greek-American Absolute Soprano (Soprano Assoluta) who blazed across the entire world of Opera, containing a mythological-like presence and imbuing artistic grit and embodying a mathematician's mind in her often thought-provoking performances and underpinnings. Though controversially known as a "diva, tigress, fierce," Maria Callas was often one to NEVER just accept the bare minimum; instead, relying on her intellect, grandiose knowledge of opera (due to her own self-produced methods and from the help of Elvira de Hidalgo and Tulio Serafin,) and deep, ambitious, hard work ethic that would leave audiences spellbound and bedazzled by both her charisma and her voice. Such a voice was often decried as being one that had "three registrations," as told by Famed Mezzo-Soprano turned Contralto, Ewa Podles, Callas had the uncanny ability in subduing her unaware audiences with several "unconventional" sounds that would mold into their brains, seep into their ears, and change their hearts forever. She wasn't the FIRST "Prima Donna" of Opera, but she was indeed the first "La Divina" and it is on her birthday that we reflect her humanly instincts that were combined by God's greatest gift -- song, and see how they were molded well into her voice. A woman, who both lived for art and love, helped to transcend this Eurocentric and mundane artform from the dark halls into the effervescence of the human soul and psyche. May today be a day of not only remembrance of Maria Callas but serve as a day that we, too, use to always keep working towards a much better future. "I belong to the givers. I want to give a little happiness even if I haven't had much for myself. Music has enriched my life and, hopefully - through me, a little - the public's. If anyone left an opera house feeling more happy and at peace, I achieved my purpose." Maria Callas

Wow what amazing work! It will take some time to go through this. I am almost more interesting in hearing her lower chest voice than the high notes.

Such a monumental work. It's interesting to hear an opera singer belting up there, even if they are light belts. Could only catch the very last minutes of the live but will watch it for sure.

@@KajiVocalsi am surprised how solid those lower notes actually are, especially the D3 at 1:39. She certanly could have learn to project them or sing those upper belts with a fuller chest voice had she practiced them.

I'm glad I came across your work coz singers in pop get so much free pass on not developing their low notes where most singing is in the chest voice 😭

Angelina Jolie said that she actually learnt to sing opera for her role of Callas. I wonder what she'll sound like. It impossible to learn to sing opera in such a short time especially to sing like Maria Callas!

They layered her voice digitally with Callas’. Jolie took 7 months of opera lessons and took Italian.

Not possible...I mean one would expect with time and advancements of the knowledge and teaching methods that it could be achieved in such a short time, but we haven't and we still have to consider learning limits of people and time their body takes to develop and get used to technique.

I’m a new opera elitist 😂who’s been taking lessons for a year with a former opera singer. This is a fantastic complication of her vocal abilities. I never particularly liked her timbre or unique voice, but she sure did emote the life out of every role she was given. You know it’s Maria Callas after just one note-she stands out.

I have heard people calling her soprano sfogato. I don't even know what the hell it means.
@KajiVocalsАй бұрын
That term has had inconsistent definitions in the 19th century but today it is mostly defined as a mezzo-soprano or contralto with a voice pushed upwards capable of singing in the high soprano tessitura. Which disqualifies Maria from being one.
@marcpaulglimada3332Ай бұрын
@KajiVocals thanks for the insight. I'd probably think she's dramatic. I could be wrong tho.

@@marcpaulglimada3332 She's not a dramatic soprano. She is just really strong in sound due to her good technique. More like a lighter spinto.

@KajiVocalsАй бұрын
If you have something to complain about; say what it is. But no, most of the notes are correct. There is a mistake with one of Il trovatore clips being labelled as E♭ despite being a D♯ for example, but the pitch itself is correct.
@bradycall188925 күн бұрын
@@KajiVocals So they're different notes because of the way they're being used right?
