Context/ spoilers: this song takes place on what’s called the Eternal Engine, a city train that hosts an advanced city of traders who negotiate with our characters on The selling of a beast that is currently eating their train! And as we hear this song you fight a gluttonous mechanical beast while traveling through an endless desert.
@VsectPT2 жыл бұрын
In addition, it's nicknamed the 'Eternal Engine' because the filters that filter out the Punishing Virus from the atmosphere in the train are dependent on the train's engine, so the train must never stop otherwise the filters stop working and everyone inside gets exposed to the virus. Even maintenance and repairs have to be done while the train is running.
@liandoaethend24032 жыл бұрын
Other name for the beast "Cancer Ball"
@forlogic532 жыл бұрын
You also have to explain who theyre selling the beast to. On one hand, they have Babylonia and in exchange for selling the beast to them, they want to be able to live in Babylonia (basically a massive space station) so that they can be safe from the virus. Babylonia wants the beast for research purposes and to prevent the Ascendants faction from getting their hands on it. On the other hand is the Ascendants faction, basically their goal is to spread the virus and take down Babylonia. By giving the beast to them, the Ascendants offer to let the inhabitants of the train into the Ascendant Network, basically turning them into Ascendants. As an Ascendant, they would have control on the virus, which also "saves" them from it.

Something I want to mention is how genius the use of drums and bass is, because it perfectly immitates the sound of the train we hear in the beginning, just faster. The bassline is very much the monotone, repetitive tone you hear when sitting in a train, whereas the drums immitate the rattling of the track segments. I just think that's super cool!
@NothingXemnas7 ай бұрын
The repertitive drum and bass is a massive hallmark in psytrance music. Perhaps GhostFinal (the composer) decided that genre's hypnotizing yet monotone rhythm would fit well in the unrelenting speed and momentum of a train.

ARABIAN NIGHTS BABY. WE GOING BACK TO ASLAAM. If there's one thing to take from vanguard is that they use environment in the tracks that they belong to. Snow in Narwhal. Train in Dust. Asian flutes in the Kowloong stuff. Muffled tracks when going underwater. AND IT JUST WORKS SO WELL

I'm SO OBSESSED about tracks like these in the P:GR soundtrack, I love the mix of "traditional" elements like the sitar and the vocalizing, with the eletronic atmosphere - the fact that these songs are SO reminiscent of early 2000s trance music makes it even better because I love trance ahhhh

I can not stop listening to this song. It’s such a fascinating mishmash of musical styles; synthesizers alongside Indian sitar, though the melody seems to zig-zag between traditional Indian and Arabic styles. And the sick beat that drops when the Bulgarian folk singing comes in is just *chef kiss*.

God, PGR hits so hard and I love seeing you pop off at its OST, but you just HAVE to take a look at Vanguard's other works as well. Their work on Sunborn/MICA Team games (Girls' Frontline and Bakery Girl franchises) is pretty much the foundation of the company (and the entire leg of the industry), everything they've done since 2016 is an undeniable banger, and even their formative works from 2008 to 2014 have some real gems hidden in there.
