For a piece that's really only a minute or two long, I could really listen to you pluck it apart for hours. Honestly, between this and the 2003 version of Fullmetal Alchemist's anime, there's SO MUCH music in that OST. I think the 2003 version was like 4 full CDs of OST and FMA: Brotherhood's OST is right alongside it. I could listen to you plucks songs off of those soundtracks for ages because there's just simply so much good music, even outside of the big-name highlight tracks like this one.

I'd actually say the deeper one is Ed. He's the older brother, more serious, determined to help his little brother. I'm glad to have more people love this story, can't wait til you really get into it!
@TheHKZero29 күн бұрын
Yeah the Chello definitely follows Ed's arc more. It's also isolated at the start until the Violin accompanies it later mirroring the events of Ed fusing Al's soul to the armor. You can feel this parallel again with the intro and the very brief plucking of the Violin before it vanishes.

Since you're looking at the music of FMA Brotherhood do make sure to look back at the original 2003 anime OST to listen to "Bratja" it's a very emotional piece sung by an amazing choir. While I would describe the the Brotherhood OST as refined I would say the original anime OST is more raw, rough and sometimes very emotional.

"Pulling a Game of Thrones" is way too harsh of a criticism. Genuinely no piece of media on the planet has shit the bed that hard before or since. That's like the media-equivalent of capital war crimes, which Fullmetal-03 certainly did not do. It's not the greatest thing in the world, but for an anime-original where they basically had to invent the rest on their own, I think they did a fairly decent job of at least remaining tonally consistent.

@@IceMaverick13 i just call doing a different end to a preexisting series that upsets fans that, didn't mean to imply it was on the same level. sure it wasn't to the same extent, but a lot of people (some i know personally) loved the books but the changes made them quite upset. i will say this though, the early pacing of fma was superior to fmab hands down.

I've actually been meaning to go back to 2003 one since I haven't watched it since it was new. Love to see a breakdown of FMA/FMAB. They are some of the best stories I have read/watched, and were the first anime my older sister introduced to me as a kid. They hold a special place in my heart, and I hope that they get you too. If you want some more anime/anime OST recommendations: - My Hero Academia's OSTs are incredible (I'd highly recommend You Say Run for a more upbeat, heroic feel, or Might+U for a very emotional experience). - Gurren Lagann's Libera Me from Hell or Sorairo Days (One of the greatest animes I have ever watched and this song is a major reason. It is the song that swells emotions during the epic moments. It combines Opera with Rap in what feels like a deathmatch. It's a song that never fails to get me pumped) - Bleach's OST are also a must when look at anime music, it has some of the greatest songs and a wide variety. (I highly recommend Treachery, On the Precipice of Defeat, Number One[All Versions], Never Meant to Belong) Good Luck on your anime journey, it will consume you but in a good way

I honestly could see the cello and viola/violin being reversed from what you said about the first and second parts being them, sure Al is literally bigger but he is also younger and tends to come at even the adult topics they are faced with from a more innocent(maybe naive?) POV where Ed tends to be a big realist and honestly pretty jaded for his age which might fit the lower tone of the cello better. That's just my read as a long time fan of the series, not really as someone with a music background so it's just my POV as a casual listener.

The nature of the medium of anime is giving you an opportunity to really dissect the music in relation to the narrative that you might not have the opportunity in a video game.
