The Shadow of the Colossus is truly an experience that transcends gaming on its own. The music, the story, the colossus. It's a unique and heart-wrenching experience.

Heres a fun fact about Sotc's soundtrack: The game director(Fumito Ueda) asked the composer (Kõ Õtani) to use ethical instruments in the soundtrack that origins are tied to many different countries instead of a specific one.

A fun fact is that originally they intended for sotc to be a sequel, with Lord Emon having broken horns like ICO They later changed it to be a implied prequel

@@gladiusbladeofthenorth9939 Ah, I see. I think SOTC is in the middle of the timeline, with Lord Emon being a member of The Boy from The Last Guardian's village, and Ico being the end of the timeline.

This is my favorite piece of gaming music in anything. Thank you for taking the time to listen to it again. For me it just captures the tragedy of the game's story while also encompassing the mystery and religious/spiritual significance of whats occurring in the game.

To me it also captures the beauty and the emptiness/loneliness of its huge open spaces/landscape. I always connect this music to that landscape and the nature and just that feeling of being alone in this world that feels huge but so empty.

"Ethereal" and "holy" are words that come to mind when hearing this track. "Melancholic" too when you know what happens later in the game and the reasons why you have to slay these colossi. They did a really good job instilling a sense of wonder/mystery yet have a deep sense of unease. Like a heavy weight has been bestowed upon you, and you HAVE to find out why. Great reaction as always! 👍👍

I love the final three bass notes; just as this plaintive melody seems to resolve in an optimistic chord, there's this dissonant minor line underneath that sort of says "wait a moment something isn't right here." Gorgeously executed piece of music, one of the few songs that I think has absolutely perfect pace and texture.

For me, one of the best examples of picturing a giant creature through music is done in Dark Souls 3. Yes, i know you have done videos earlier from that game, but i would highly recommend the song "Yhorm the giant". The immense power of his size, both physical and in status is explained so well in his piece. Please do a video about it.

What I perceive is invokled by the Prologue theme, is the coloring from a requiem piece. It's music mourning on the inevitable end within the cycle of nature. Life starts, grows, and then it's gone. Yet what's particular to the theme, and relevant to the story, it's the emotionally charged swell as the protagonist finally reaches the bridge leading to the temple. The music and choir raises in unison, as a pledge for rebirth is seen on the horizon. The composing, as I read it, portrays how the possibility of renewal deeply moves the fragile human soul. Nothing short of beautiful. P.S.: Currently playing the game for the first time, and still on my way to the ending. And the Prologue theme became a special part of my own playing experience. It's sort of an opening credits sequence -- not unlike from a series. And since the gameplay is set to be enjoyed best in epìsodic portions, it's a great excuse to never miss this introduction. I even let Agro to gallop as background music, so I can listen further to the wonderful composing and talents that built this solemn and absorbing atmosphere.

Shadow of the Colossus and Ico truly had unique feeling to them....very few games have managed to make you feel so alone and isolated....and yet have that sense of mystery and discovery. I mean I still dont hold them nearly as dear to my heart or rank them as high as many other people do who played them when they originally came out (I only played them when they were re-released to PS3 as "HD-remasters") but still....there is just something with those games and Shadow of the Colossus especially that just felt unique.....whenever I hear this prologue song it just brings back that feeling. Its very difficult to describe because we all have different feelings when playing through these games, but I'm sure everyone who has played Shadow of the Colossus has idea what Im trying to say :D....there just arent other games like this other than Ico and and the Last Guardian, and when the game world has these huge open, beautiful but empty spaces with nothing in them but your game character, your horse, giant ruins and giant Colossi......I dont know there just is that unique atmosphere and feel to it that is difficult to put to words. But this music perhaps describes that feeling best for me, that mystery, that vast world but also the emptiness and loneliness of it all.
