David Draiman was raised as an Orthodox Jew and his amazing voice is due to the fact that not only was he born with it, but he is also a trained Cantor. I've also learned that David Draiman and Disturbed addresses depression, addiction, and suicide during every concert, performance offering support and understanding. They are one of the most popular, beloved Heavy Metal bands! Diane ❤❤❤😊
@aridlands8410 күн бұрын
It's true. Seeing them tour this album...I've never experienced anything like it. A heavy metal band did something that day that I have never seen in any church. At the end of this song, every single eye in an amphitheater packed with 35,000 people had tears in it. Strangers were hugging each other and crying openly (my hug buddy was a huge, shirtless, sweaty, tattooed, Samoan who just minutes prior had effortlessly sent me flying in a mosh pit. We held each other and cried without shame), people were on their knees, hands were clasped or held to the sky. THEN they went into a wonderous speech about depression and desperation and how strength is so much closer than we know, a tiny spark of incredible power, always present in overwhelming darkness, waiting for kindling to burst into flame. They followed this with their song "The Light". By the end of this overpowering emotional journey, the entire place had become one being, bonded and strengthened by love. We went in as metalheads, and left as brothers and sisters. Even in the parking lot, we were all exchanging hugs and words of affirmation and love. I am certain I will never again experience anything like it until the day the Father calls me home, and I no longer have any fear of that day.

Being a child in the 1950's and '60's, Simon and Garfunkel's _Sound of Silence_ produces a visceral reaction in me. The song was so appropriate for the time it was written; and continues to be appropriate. When The Charismatic Voice did a reaction to Disturbed's rendition, I was reluctant to the idea of a metal version of this old favorite. I was surprised to greatly appreciate the Disturbed version. I realized the importance of the Disturbed arrangement to the current time. Thank you for the analysis of this video from your perspective. Totally agree 100% My take on the neon god thing is representative of the time we spend on our phones, TV's, movies, anything that actually let's us run away from actually really opening up and speaking with another human being and being honest, open and raw in these conversations without judging or the fear of being judged. In our current society, the keyboard warriors are really making this even worse, they cause people to not trust others and make them believe they aren't safe, that they are alone, thus driving up suicide rates in the world. Thank you for your review! I really enjoyed your explanation!

I still get chills and i have heard it probably 200 times or more. Its so powerful and the ebb and swell of the music is superb. The classical guitar work brings me to tears. It is so beautiful. They are traditionally a very heavy metal band, but David had classical training in choir (father is a pastor I believe). He sings it so clean and beautifully. Truly portrays the outrage and disappointment that the warning Simon & Garfunkel sang was not listened to, and the problems and disconnect between people might be even worse now.

The joy of just watching you appreciate the heck out of this! For contrast, you should listen to Dropping Plates, it's about the polar opposite of this
