@@GrayFox14 While I do understand and appreciate that they won this reward, I also have to say that to put Lovebites into just one subgenre doesn't do them justice and is misleading. I can't think of any other metal band playing the same variety of different "old school" metal genres and at the same level as Lovebites do. Therefore, it makes sense when Asami says "We are Lovebites and we play Heavy Metal", at least when Heavy Metal in this context is used as a description to encompass (nearly) all different metal genres you had in the eighties. I'm still waiting for Lovebites' first Doom Metal song, though.

Everywhere and always, from the first day of its existence, LOVE BITES, their Label, etc., the ladies in their social networks were called a heavy metal band (or a guitarist of a heavy metal band, etc.). I feel that you have been "lovebitten". Keep discovering the rabbit hole of their 60+ songs, it will _amaze_ you. This song might only be the beginning. I have all of their records, and never ever regretted it. (And I don't even have all Iron Maiden records...!) Usually I don't *recommend* any band to anybody (for musical taste is very individual), but if you _are_ moved by this song, you actually _should_ keep giving LOVEBITES a try. Welcome to LOVEBITES 🤘🏼🐺🔥 Here some information about my favorite band: LOVEBITES was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album both were released in 2017. So far the band has already released 4 full length studio albums, 4 EPs, a best of compilation and a bunch of live albums, available on CD/DVD/Blu-ray. In 2018 LOVEBITES won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band. LOVEBITES have toured in Europe back in 2018/2019 and also in 2024. This also includes appearances at most European major metal festivals such as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop, Resurrection Fest and Hellfest. They also played their first US shows last year in September. In 2021 the band went into a hiatus, because founder and bassist Miho quit the band for personal reasons. During the break also two babies were born. LOVEBITES came back in October 2022 with new bassist Fami and a few months later with new album „Judgement Day“. Their newest release is „LOVEBITES EP II“ with 5 amazing new songs. Wow, what a way to start a new journey! Could as well jump in at the deep end of awesomeness! If a piece of music gives you the shimmies and starry eyes, something must be very RIGHT about it. Knowledge of Metal is not prerequisite to really enjoy - even love - this, although being totally new to the heavier music makes it less likely one is getting exposed to someone like LOVEBITES... So this is it: nominally Classic Heavy Metal, but they are really a chameleon, as their compositions include the styles of Power, Neo-Classical, Thrash and Progressive metal all in one crazy bundle of talent. The sound can get very heavy, underlining the cognitive dissonance induced by a band of princesses shredding everything in sight. But two things will remain constant: sky-high, inspired quality of music-making; and the already legendary guitar solos! These girls are otherworldly great on their instruments (most of them on several instruments, rather), and the two lead guitarists are gaining fame as the best guitar duo living. (Yes, both leads - they pass the rhythm guitar duties between them while the other is soloing, or drop them to the bassist during the mentioned twin solos.) The vocalist Asami comes from R&B background and is a former ballerina - which you luckily got to see early! 😄 The best part about LOVEBITES is not even the virtuoso skills, or elegant, eye-catching stage looks, it is the world-beating songwriting. Very pertinent that "A Frozen Serenade" should be among my, and many fans', Top-3 songs by them, but there is really not a single lesser one... just very different and employing a mass of influences which they take in stride and make their own. Yes, including the Classical from Mozart to Rachmaninoff! The dark-haired guitarist Miyako is a bit of a "genius in the family", main composer, and classically trained pianist, while her blonde counterpart Midori lists numerous Western Neo-Classical shred guitarists among her heroes. You will find out a lot more about this incredible group of musicians once and when you have time to get closer to them. They are also very classy people, so each encounter with them and their art becomes ever more endearing. If you encounter people speaking ill of all Metal or Rock, direct them to LOVEBITES. This is great, total art, genre delineations notwithstanding. ❤‍🔥

I can't really give you an answer for a favourite song from Lovebites. They're all so good in different ways it's usually whatever I'm listening to at the time. The three 'E' songs and Swan Song (with the Chopin intro), probably depart most from their main genre of great power metal and thrash. If you like classical then Dystopia Symphony (inspired by Beethovem) might appeal, as it doesn't get so many mentions. Same goes for 'Under the Red Sky' and 'Over the Black Sea', with some nods to Rachmaninoff, part of a trilogy of songs about Japan in WWII.

The original bass player, Miho, left in 2021 for personal reasons; the band then had an open audition process where everyone could send a tape, and in three rounds of auditions they settled on Fami, now 22 years old and the youngest member by far, who already had a successful KZbin channel and a solo EP out (which is great BTW, bouncy Japanese pop rock with a Latin and funk influence). The other members are all founding members: Haruna on drums, Asami on vocals, Miyako on guitar and piano, Midori on guitar (Miyako was a "supporting member" at first but became a full member in 2017). It's a bit difficult to name my "absolute favorite track", because I don't have one and cannot have one: most of them are fantastic. I am very partial to Set The World On Fire and Break The Wall, though, both of which I recommend because if you thought they were going hard, you ain't seen nothing yet. In this video you see the old bass player, Miho, who founded the band with the drummer, Haruna. They play some very old school thrash and power metal. This is actually one of their slower and softer songs. Their influences are old Metallica, Slayer, Testament, Anthrax, Judas Priest, Helloween and Iron Maiden. I love all of their songs, my favorite ones are...all of them. I'd love to see your reaction when they bring their core classic heavy metal. Check out Set the World on Fire (thrash metal / power metal), Break the Wall (thrash metal), The Crusade (Iron Maiden tribute) oder Soldier Stands Solitarily (melodic speed metal). Many older metalheads (including myself) love them for their 80s/90s sound. Midori and Miyako (both on guitar) are imho the best guitar duo on the planet. Miyako started training as a classical concert pianist at age 3. Some songs including this one show her playing the piano or switching between piano and guitar. Check out Swan Song (with an intro by Chopin) or Empty Daydream for this. They are incredible live, so I'd recommend always checking their live stuff.

After Miho left LOVEBITES, information about Miho practically disappeared from all official pages of the band. The label is trying to "erase" Miho's name from the history of LOVEBITES. I got the impression that the label and managers are doing this on purpose. At the time when Miho was in the band (2016 - 2021), the official information stated that Miho was the creator and leader of the band, ect. Today, on the LOVEBITES w/site, the following is written about the creation of the band: "LOVEBITES formed in 2016 with vocalist Asami, guitarists Midori and Miyako, bassist Miho and drummer Haruna." f you believe what is written on the band's website today, you might think that Asami and Miyako also created the band and were in it from the very beginning. But if you read one of the first messages (July 2016) about Miho creating a new band, it turns out that the band did not have a lead vocalist. The band consisted of Miho, Haruna and Midori. Miyako was only an invited support musician. Initially Miho planned to take on the functions of lead vocals. Asami appeared later, after Miho got a demo recording of Asami's voice and Miho invited her to audition. Today, in the information published by the label, the band, etc., it is no longer said that Miho created LOVEBITES and that it was with Miho (or to be more precise, under her leadership) that the band achieved great success in Japan and received international recognition. Welcome to Lovebites, the Wolfpack 🐺 Lovebites fans around the world, will be along to give you information and recommendations. Lovebites are a Japanese heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, who was previously in the band DESTROSE that broke up in 2015. They take much of their influence from the 1970's and 80's British and European bands such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Miho is a big fan of Steve Harris, bass player with Iron Maiden and is influenced by his playing style. She left the band in 2021 for personal reasons and is currently pursuing new projects. Any Lovebites video recorded in 2021 or earlier, the bassist will be Miho (ESP Bass), any from 2022 or later, it is Fami (Bacchus Bass, usually a 5 string) This concert from 2021 was performed under strict Covid restrictions. The audience was limited to 50% capacity with mandatory masks, and no shouting and cheering. This is the reason that their reaction may seem rather subdued. As well, Miyako, the black haired guitarist/pianist, was several months pregnant. she had a daughter later in the year. The present members are, Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker. Midori, (Midori Tatematsu) ESP Guitars. The blond 'Amazon Warrior'. Before Lovebites a member of all female band GEKIJO METALICCHE. Miyako, ( Watanabe Miyako, also has used the name Mi Ya) Dean and Gibson Guitars, Piano and Keyboards. The 'serious' one with long black hair. Before Lovebites a member of the bands DROP OF JOKER, 21g and SONIC LOVER RECKLESS. She is a classically trained pianist who writes much of the music, often incorporating classical themes into her compositions. She has a 3 part series on her YT channel 'MIYAKO OFFICIAL' about the process she uses to compose new music in her home studio. She has an EP of some classic heavy metal songs transcribed and played on piano as though they are classical works. It would be accurate to think of her as a classical pianist who also plays guitar in a heavy metal band. A remarkable young woman. Both Guitarists play lead, seamlessly swapping lead and rhythm as required. They play wonderful harmonised dual solos. Fami, Bacchus Bass. Recruited as replacement for Miho in late 2022 when she was 20 years old and still at university. She has her own YT channel that has nearly 700,000 subs. Check out her 'Alien Alien' Slap Bass cover from when she was in her teens. Haruna, Drums. The 'Little BIG Engine'. a tiny lady, 1.45 meters tall, who is the power house that drives the band. Before Lovebites she had been in Destrose, Miho's former band, and was the first to join her in the new band. She plays powerfully, fast and precisely throughout concerts that can be up to near 2 hours long. She uses a double kick bass pedal at unbelievable speed. All members of the band can play piano/keyboards. They were the first all female Japanese band to play at the Wacken festival, Germany in 2018, also playing at the Bloodstock festival in the UK and winning the UK Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. In 2019 they toured the UK with Dragon Force and opened for Arch Enemy in China. Following Miho's departure in 2021 they went on hiatus, two members, Asami and Miyako getting married and having babies. Their 'comeback' concert, the first with Fami on Bass, was in March 2023. The ladies really shine on stage. I saw Lovebites live in London twice during their 2024 European tour. You should get a good number of views and subs on this one :) Yes they are a really awesome band, for those who like these kinds of music genres of course. They primarily do power metal, thrash metal, ballads, prog, some stuff based around classical pieces. They are like a modern more technical version of bands like Iron Maiden, Helloween etc. Insane levels of Piano, guitar, bass and drum skills throughout the band. Asami is vocals, she was previously an RnB singer. Haruna on drums, she was a founding member. Miho on bass in this one. SHe was the other founding member but left a while ago and was replaced by Fami who is not in this video. Miyako is the guitarist who was also on piano. Midori was the guitarist on electric and acoustic. The Japanese all women / women lead rock and metal scene has an insane number of bands. Hello Gooble ,nice that you liked it and even nicer that you got out of your comfort zone and listened to some heavy metal. As you could see metal is not limited to noise and screaming ,the pianist has been playing since she was three years old and is now a concert pianist . she taught herself guitar at the age of 18 . There are many all female Japanese bands (jazz, rock, metal, etc), being a small country with a large population it is easy for musicians to tour and make a living doing it (Japan is the second largest market for music by country, USA is first). For all female Japanese rock bands check out Band-Maid, Gacharic Spin, East of Eden, and Nek! (the ! is a stylised i, so Neki), for all female Japanese metal bands Hanabie, Nemophila, and Bridear. As well as KOIAI who play both rock and metal (they float between genres and a highly skilled). Whoever recommended "A Frozen Serenade" to you picked wisely, there are some Lovebites songs which might be a bit much for a new listener (though Lovebites being power metal is much less intense than some other metal genres could be). The "E" songs (Empty Daydream, Epilogue, Edge of the World) are all ballad like while Hammer of Wraith or Soldier Stand Solitarily are heavier and faster.
