I can imagine the series now: those in the afterlife unsatisfied with a disgraceful death come back to the realm of the living in order to attempt to complete their final dreams/wishes. Unfortunately due to their weak grip on reality, they end up doing more harm then good; all this opera singer wanted was to perform for crowds of thousands, catching thrown roses and basking in the love and attention. Her ghostly form possesses humans and creates ushers out of thin air, ones she once dreamed of leading the wealthy to her sold out operas.

I like how the ending shows the now old opera singer on her deathbed (apparently now dying peacefully) while someone played the music box of the song she always sing in her young opera singer days and maybe her wish was something like she hopes to sing on the stage with a bunch of enthusiastic audience like she used to do when shes young one last time. And maybe her wish is the reason why the phantom manifested in a form of her giant ghostly young self singing in theater clad in her signature dress ;v; (also the fact that brio comforted her by saying "we all heard you" really made her accept her death peacefully by taking her final bow qwq)

Love it~ It was tragic but beautiful. Specially when the opera singer turned to the empty seats after Brio said "We all heard you" At the beginning one might suspect that she only said it in a sense to express they were done with her way of forcing people to listen and praise her, but after reading the comments section and how people have come out with this complex plot for a 5 min animation, it's completely the opposite. In the end; if the plot is to be true depending if you accept it or not; the opera singer dies happily after having her wish to be listened and watched by a crowd become true. Said crowd being US, the viewer behind the screen, she turned to watch us and she was more than thankful to repay such kindness by putting Brio down. We watched her, willingly, without her having to force us and we loved it. This is only but my interpretation but if you think it this way, makes it even more beautiful than already is Simply magnificent

The patterns shifting with movement on Brios skin and drusillas clothes remind me heavily of the count of monte cristo anime as well as the mononoke anime. Such wonderful interpretations of art. It’s is nice to see it hear as well with the love letters to a bygone world just as monogatari referenced bygone Japan and the count referenced a story of a bygone old france mingling with the story of a futuristic earth. Perhaps I am too used to smooth easily palatable art so the first viewing was jarring but I still could see the talent it took to create something like this. I found myself rewatching to catch little things like the different pieces of brios tattoos or the shifting color schemes whenever the singer was the focus. Well done.

It's because this is so uniquely creative. There isn't enough unique artist like this anymore who TRY, so it's usually desired. This is absolutely inspirational!
@lyrablack86212 жыл бұрын
@@nimloc1670 So… You're telling an artist to recreate something not only creative, but also _unique_ on top of that? Do you know how much pressure that puts on them? Not to mention, "creative" people exist whether you see them or not. Most artists don't sell their work, or only sell a portion of it, therefore it's not publicly available, it's not accessible to you, etc. I don't think there should be a market for art at all, but then again another "controversial" opinion of mine is that we should get our basic necessities met for free so we have time to create art or whatever we want to do, and it shouldn't be for sale, including for social capital. In my humble opinion, people should make what they want simply because they want to. It's been proven time and time again that healthy people thrive on intrinsic motivation rather than external motivation - just look at how kids are so eager to learn until they start getting grades (good or bad), or how people love doing something (such as making art) until they start getting paid for it and it becomes a job rather than a hobby they do just to do it. Am I saying artists shouldn't be compensated or whatever for their work? Obviously not, my ideal conditions unfortunately are not reality. I'm just saying it sucks that social media has gotten to the point where everything is noteworthy apparently, did anyone ask you about your fucking opinion about this person's art? Like this sort of unwarranted commenting is the exact same to me as grades or money, the second anyone says anything about how I look or what I'm wearing or whatever I immediately just want to stop existing right then and there. I wish everyone would just shut the fuck up, myself included, I'm not claiming to be a moral pariah or anything like that. Fun fact: accidentally had a freudian slip right then and typed "complaining" instead of "claiming". Hell is other people. With kind regards and much respect, go fuck yourself 💛

The way this uses dialogue is really cool because it manages to preserve a mysterious and kindof haunting mood that is most often achieved without any dialogue at all. The music, sound effects, or moments of silence still felt heavy and otherworldly, and when there was dialogue, it built up the characters and their relationship so beautifully. And fusing the opera with different genres/more modern instruments??? Depending on the environment, action, and characters?????? Thats so cool!! And obviously the visuals are fantastic. Color pallette, lighting especially!! Cool composition and smooth motion!!! Character design!!! The singer is really beautiful and i love that i didnt realize i got attached until the job was done. beautiful, definitely deserves more attention! visually reminds me of the witch sequences in madoka magica a lot. also, amazing use of what i assume to be textured brushes? for the hair and other details, it isnt often i see someone use things like that effectively but it works wonders in this.

I love the black woman’s hair. It’s so creative and captures the texture well while also being unique. Super cool. You don’t see that super often. Our character design is sometimes treated as if its limited (cornrows or Afros) but you guys definitely presented something super cool yet simple and well designed to her entire fit! Ik it’s not a big thing but it just kinda made me smile🥹

I would love to hear something like an artist's commentary on the production of this animation... but if it's not feasible, it's fine. This is lovely as it stands. Moreso just a personal love of mine to hear the creative process behind different art.

How tf has this not craked 100,000 yet? This is one of the most creative animated short films I've seen in a long time. The techniques you use for things like brio's tatoos and the wind up key on the opera singer were clever, the characters were charming, the action was spectacular, and the animation was stunning. I'll definitely be sharing this one around.

It weirdly reminded me of Madoka (Kyoko vs. Sayaka, the last fight), but I loved it.

Okay if there’s anybody with an answer for this it would be here. What is the style called when animated objects/people have one still pattern behind them and when the object/person moves it just moves over the still pattern? For example at 3:20, her skin is just a floral pattern but it moves. The key on the opera singer also has this effect. I remember being super fascinated with that style ever since I first watched Chowder as a kid.

I like this a lot! Wonderfully unique style and character design, especially creating a history cohesive and yet distinct world. Great efficient storytelling and thematic resonance. I'd love to see a whole show of these two having adventures, fighting off monsters or harm or evil
