I can relate wholeheartedly to the sentiments expressed in the lyrics. Bravo to Alex Banfield's performance; this is a tough one to sing and I can imagine it would be a challenge to play on the 88.

I experienced this fabulous, world-class, new production of Street Scene at Leeds Grand Theatre last week! Alex Banfield is perfectly cast in the role of Sam, and he effortlessly displays his star qualities of acting and singing throughout the show! I'm so much looking forward to experiencing this brilliant show again when the tour arrives at The Lowry in Salford on Friday 13th March.....

My experience of this production is limited to this video-- gotta say I'm impressed. I've heard and liked other versions on YT with more intensity. As a singer hoping to sing this someday, I was really impressed by the *effortlessness* Alex brought to this, especially later in the piece. I watched the part just before 3:00 mark several times, looking for a big inhalation or some other adjustment in advance of the high notes. Nope, none of that-- just relaxed singing that allowed the notes to float out. I've a long way to go before that comes easily, but it was great to see an example of it being done. Thank you
