Toph is still the greatest and strongest Earthbender. There was also an official fight in the comic between Toph and Bumi, and since they were both on par (minus the fact that Toph isn't using Metal Bending), I would say that Toph is stronger than Bumi since she has the potential to surpass him. Can't say that she is the strongest Metal Bender, since we don't see much of her Metal Bending outside of The Last Airbender, but she is confirmed the strongest Earth Bender.

@@jasminelast-name6985 yes so it makes sense that toph's way of showing love is letting her kids do what she needed the most as a kid too. so she gave them what she always wished to have, meaning she never wanted them to feel imprisoned. and toph said too she went to the place where she lives now because she can see everything from there (zao fu and republic city) so she always can see her family and what did she do once her daughter got imprisoned? yes, immediately left to free her. i think tophs idea of being a mother is great but the execution was not too good and as her relationship with her parents was complex she didn't know how to really handle that exactly. i want to see aang as a dad now. and wait a minute.. does sokka have kids?

Man when Toph said that this is why Katara didn’t do anything in the civil war I laughed so hard. Unalaaq is an outstanding water bender and one of the best we’ve seen. And she just said Katara ABSOLUTELY had the power to just nail his ass and likely had enough power to go against a spirit. But instead she left it to Korra who actually made the best case scenario by freeing the spirits even if it was at the cost of her past lives. Both of them still have the power to wipe entire armies out. But the toll on their bodies would likely put them out of commission. (As any active 90 year old woman would know)

LoK’s bending styles are kinda polarizing to people but i really like the fast-paced modernized mma style they used. I think the suyin vs kuvira fight is the best display of that. Not better nor worse than the traditional, stylistic styles of AtLA. Just different

There's still plenty of traditional styles used. Off the top if my head: Ghazan, Tenzin, Lin outside of her metal wips, Korra when she's using waterbending(she was taught by Katara after all) and at times with earthbending, chi blockers(without gloves), and Jinora, Ikki and Meelo.

Now in this new world when the avatar needed the world most, it didn’t want her. I like that concept but I DO think it could’ve been explored better. I feel like they wanted Korra to be a strong female lead, but wanted to give her moments of weakness, but they just gave her too many of those moments and had her take massive L's each season. The show probably would've been better received if they just went full send on the whole strong female lead bit, and put her weak moments at the first season and make her take a massive L before the series finale, like that could've shown better that she has moments where she just loses and then bounces back on the finale.

I feel like the narrative did help many lean into the negative aspects, so that made it easier for some to latch onto compared to the original series. Like the president saying she should leave the town; Toph saying she was the worst avatar, etc... but of course they have the positive aspects addressed too (like Tenzin saying she help bring the airbenders) which many don't take into account enough. The negative seem to severe to them to account for the positives (especially after book 2 with her losing connection to the Avatar state).

I see where they're coming from Korra has plenty of hype moments as well that demonstrates how incredible her skills are. She's demolishes Tarrlok before he bloodbends her, she was beating Vaatu before harmonic convergence gave him a boost, she and her dad did a really good job of fighting of Zaheer (and she was still chained up in that fight), and we haven't even gotten to her best moment with her fight against Kuvira and then bending the spirit energy. I think the problem is that Korra's so powerful that they literally have to nerf her midseason so she doesn't just take out the main enemy before the finale.

I don't really think it happens in Korra any more than it happens in Atla y'know just like Katara had her moments with blood ending, Toph with creating metalbending and literally every fight she was in, Azula everytime she was on screen, Iroh when he scapes prison and in the finale.. I think it's because in general the Avatar is the most powerful bender of their time because they can bend the four elements + avatar state but they are definitely not the most skilled, just like how Katara was a better waterbender than Aang, Toph a better earthbender, Azula a better firebender etc, the same goes for Korra. Kuvira, Tenzin, Zaheer Anon and others were more skilled than others, but in the end she's still the avatar and no one can really defeat the avatar at their fullest power (god Zaheer barely did it and she was *poisoned* during their whole fight) And I absolutely love that both Aang and Korra aren't the most skilled characters, cause powerful characters outside of the protagonist makes an interesting supporting cast and intimidating villains so I'm all for it
