Totally new to Infinity. I discovered this game last year and fell in love with the Aleph models and faction and started buying a couple of packs, then realized that they didn't have rules in Code One yet and N4 is crazy complicated to start. I have been waiting for a year for Aleph to get added to Code One and I pre-ordered as soon as I could. Still assembling and painting my minis but I can't wait to get this on the table!

Code one is good if you don't have a teacher. If you do, it's best to get into N4. Really I've played board games that are more complicated.

Really? n4 is definitely easier than N3 (by a lot) but it’s a decent step from code one.

@@the_infinitygamer It definitely is. This one is a bit thinner than the Kaldstrom set, but really just as sturdy. And I love the artwork on this one. Best yet.

I agree I think the design on each building is a massive step up especially from the older wildfire set.

I'm a fan of fewer sculpts in this box than the previous 3, but the value is so good relative to the future cost that I may eventually get it. I really love how Helen and Pandora came out and luckily got a hold of Helen through an online provider. The other reason I may eventually get the box is the booklet, for background about the factions and conflict.

You’re right about the value these boxes provide - so long as you don’t mind having a faction you might not look to play as well.

So a couple notes on Blackwind as an entry point. The factions swing a bit, back and forth, in terms of objective power. Round 1 Thorakitai are ARM 3 and have combi rifles while Bahram has rifles and ARM1. I haven't opened my box yet but I recall the profiles tweak a bit as the scenario continue throughout the book. The tweaking is annoying and I ignored it during GenCon demos. Round 2 Steel Phalanx gets Hoplite with HMG and Bahram scores the Bokhtar with a spitfire. Bahram sorta keeps the "lead" at this point until the last mission. Now Infinity is never even, and only a couple of people even caught on enough to comment so it's not a _huge_ deal. But be ready for when they do. This is in the context of Code One. If you view it from the N4 perspective, Bahram is going to suck wind without proxies as your three starting troopers are suddenly irregular. Some Code One skills are mentioned but aren't actually utilized with the included models. I still feel that Operation: Icestorm had the best model mix for an introduction. Ah well. It's still fine. :D This is specifically over the course of GenCon running 20(?) demo games for people mostly on the lower/newer end of tabletop miniatures.

Nomads should get a faction starter box soon but that will probably be like the Pan O and Yu Jing ones in that’s it’s the contents of the battle box and beyond combined.

@@the_infinitygamer I was thinking of the big boxes, I think they're the entire Code One collection for the faction for around $250 (or about the same as an unplayable 40k army box. 😉) I haven't seen any announcements, but I think the last batch came out around Christmas..?

CB's CodeOne starters are the best! Got a set👍 Any guesses on what's next for CodeOne (after the Beyond/Remotes/Support/Booster packs for Blackwind) now that we have all the main factions covered? Tohaa/JSA?

Beyond will probably come out before Christmas and the others could take a while. It’s hard to say with these two as they will probably get more resculpt etc than we saw with other factions.

Which of the 2 available starters seems like the best absolut newbie one? Crimson Stone or Blackwind? is there any notable difference besides the factions that are given? :>

No there’s no difference between them apart from the missions you run through, the design of the terrain and the factions. Go with the one you like the factions from 😃. Both are designed for newbies so you’ll be fine!

steel phalanx support pack is dactyls resculpts, and probably yudbot resclupts

I'm pretty sure the Yudbot will be the same or very close to O12's, mostly because both factions use a lot of the same hardware by design. Probably why we didn't see their designs in the dossier
