i stoped my fully loaded 73000 lb gravel truck at a blind crossing with no lights at the crossing my truck is facing down hill at the crossing i was a tenth of second ready to release the brakes fortunately i heard the the last whistle not the first two whistles the train was shorter than usual with about 10 freight and two passenger cars at the end of it. also he was going a lot faster than what they usually travel there this is close to where i garage my truck thank the lord that that i heard the whistle absolutely no visibility for more than 100 feet down the tracks very glad to see the new gates and lights there 39 years of trucking almost ruined my good driving record two weeks before i retired . i still stop look and listen in my auto that was so close love those train horns !

There was one train wreck in Ft Lauderdale FL 03-17-1993. Amtrak’s silver meteor slams into a gasoline tanker killing the driver and seven other motorists. Fuel erupts 380 ft abo sea level. Engineer suffered 1st and 2nd degree burns. He survived and told his frightening experience. Truck driver did not survive the fiery explosion.

Semi trucks pulling low trailers should never go over hump railroad crossings because their trailers would get stuck on them.

For The portage Indiana crash. The reason that happened was the NICTD crossings were lowering when the driver was waiting for the freight train to pass.

Trains are meant to be used in a smart way. But sometimes dumb people mix with them. I know a friend who's a engineer on bnsf and she tangled with a semi. the driver tried to beat the train! the driver lost her foot due to miscaluations. Just DO NOT TRY TO BEAT A TRAIN

20 years later, same date, 2018: A TVCTA commuter train lead by a locomotive slammed into the second trailer of a UPS Double Trailer Truck 11 miles from the Newark St. Station in Norcross, GA. No one is hurt at least. Video captured by Scotty and Beulah Grant during their anniversary.

@@LaurenEveCreates and it also happened at Guadalupe Station in Salt Lake on January 27, 2017 a Fedex truck was crossing the tracks headed to the North Salt Lake Intermodal Facility a signal crew was working on the tracks and did not flag the crossing and a Frontrunner train hit the Fedex truck in the third trailer. There were no deaths or injuries. Because the signal maintainer did not flag the crossing UTA and UP terminated him.

where i live we got a lot of trains i see car and trucks beat the train when i was little. i was at the train station one day when a amtrak train was coming. 2 or 3 cars stop at the crossing but then they drove a cross i was like "what are they doing" now their are gates at the crossing

if a crossing has a exempt sign then trucks dont need to stop before crossing, the exempt sign also means that the crossing is not used much or is out of service
