Like all your excellent videos. I have seen this explanation of virtual ground many times, but it is always lacking something. Here the opamp is drawn with a feedback loop, but the huge gain of the open loop opamp is used to explain that the inputs are at virtual ground. Then it turns out that the gain of the opamp with feedback is by several factors smaller than the open loop gain. This would then mean that the inputs are not at virtual ground? Am I missing something in this explanaton. I like to look at it as a differential amplifier with equal bias currents in each branch, so that both inputs have the same voltage.

@ALLABOUTELECTRONICS
@ALLABOUTELECTRONICS 4 жыл бұрын
Just to explain the effect of the closed-loop circuit. The op-amp itself has the open-loop gain. But with external resistors, the overall gain of the entire circuit (Inverting amplifier) is reduced. I hope it will clear your doubt. If you still have any doubt, then let me know here.

It's just for representation. While drawing the opamp symbol, you can represent either inverting or non inverting at the top and the other one at the bottom. It will not change the functionality of the circuit.

How can we assume the input terminals as short circuited when op_amp is having high input impedance???🤔
@shiprabhanu9562
@shiprabhanu9562 6 жыл бұрын
That should be open circuited because of high input impedance
@ALLABOUTELECTRONICS
@ALLABOUTELECTRONICS 6 жыл бұрын
It's virtual short. It's not actual short. Because of the very high gain of the op-amp, the difference between the two input signal is very low. Even if op-amp has very high input impedance, it is possible to have both terminals are at almost same potential, because of very high gain of op-amp. Of, course ideally current will not flow between the two terminals. So, we can assume that there is virtual short between the two terminal. It's not actual short between the terminal. I hope it will clear your doubt.
@PropheticNomad
@PropheticNomad 6 жыл бұрын
It's only when you have negative feedback that the virtual ground presents itself. The circuitry inside will try to drive the node to equal the other. Often, it is very good at doing this. So good that you can say there is not a potential difference between inputs. They are "virtually" the same

@@mohdaqibminai5975 here they are virtually shorted which means that they have same potential without being actually connected, as the derivation done for Vd in the video, it is obtained that Vd is so small that it can be assumed to be zero so when the difference in voltages between two points is zero then it means they are at the same potential.

@ALLABOUTELECTRONICS
@ALLABOUTELECTRONICS 4 жыл бұрын
It depends on the output voltage. If the output voltage is positive, then it will flow in the opposite direction. From Vout to ground ( From higher potential to lower potential).
