I remember seeing The 80s version of Hollywood Squares when it reran on the USA Network in the 90s (along with Dick Clark's Pyramids, Press Your Luck, Scrabble, etc on a game show block "Lucky Day USA" hosted by the same guy who hosted Hollywood Squares John Davidson) and on my local CBS affiliate WSPA channel 7 on its first run. But WSPA dropped the Hollywood Squares in the final season (1988-1989) when they replaced it with Family Feud (Ray Combs syndie version) and Win Lose or Draw.

I watched the 80’s version of Hollywood Squares when it aired syndicated on my local then-Independent affiliate WFTY channel 50 in its first-run in the late 80’s, then later reran in reruns on the USA Network as part of their afternoon game show repeat package Lucky Day USA in the early 90’s, until 1993. The NEW Hollywood Squares was only the 2nd collaboration between Rick Rosner, Century Towers Productions and Orion Television who produced Just Men! with Game Show Supreme Betty White and the 2nd collaboration with Rosner and Stormy Sacks who not only composed the theme to Just Men! but also Caesars Challenge with Ahmad Rashad (Co-Produced by The Cannell Library) Not only is Rick Rosner (the Producer of this version of HS) best known as the Creator of Just Men! with Betty White and Caesars Challenge with Ahmad Rashad, but he is also best known for Creating Prime Time Shows like the Action Drama 240-Robert with Mark Harmon and Joanna Cassidy (co-produced by FILMWAYS who owned Heatter-Quigley and Ruby-Spears at the time), the Comedy-Drama Lottery! with Marshall Colt and Ben Murphy (also co-produced by Orion Television) and his best known work was Creating the Cop Comedy-Drama "CHiPs" with Larry Wilcox, Robert Pine, Randi Oakes aka Mrs. Gregory Harrison and International TV Icon Erik Estrada as Everyone's Favorite Motorcycle Cop Ponch (co-produced by MGM Television and Distributed by Turner Entertainment and owned by Warner Bros. Television) God Bless You Mr. Rosner and God Bless You Mr. Sacks for makin' this an awesome theme, God Bless You Shadoe Stevens for a job well done on your announcing, but most of all, God Bless You Miss Rivers, Thanks for the Laughs and May You R.I.P. Peter Marshall's Version and John Davidson's Version are owned by MGM (who bought Filmways and Orion Television) and Tom Bergeron's Version is owned by Columbia Tri Star/SONY and CBS (who bought King World) I wonder why Rosner Television Logo did not appear on this version of HS? also, I wonder why Merrill Heatter didn't produce this version? Was it the decision by Orion Television? plus, we know that Betty White and Ahmad Rashad both appeared on this version of HS, but did any of the "CHiPs" stars Larry Wilcox, Erik Estrada or Robert Pine appear on this version? Heatter collaborated with Century Towers Productions and Orion Television on High Rollers w/Wink Martindale during the 87/88 Season Plus, is this true that Merrill Heatter criticized the show by calling it a circus?
