I think most of opeth songs had been written on acoustic guitar before the recording process, that's what makes these covers so special.

This is the reason why I believe Opeth is the greatest metal band of all time - Mikael's ability as a composer is beyond amazing - he is in a a league of his own. Other amazing composers in the "rock" field who I feel are very special: Frank Zappa, Tim Smith (Cardiacs), Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), Robert Fripp (King Crimson), Hoest (Taake)....all incredible composers along with Mikael. Amazing work here!

We tried it off camera a couple times and it was good enough but on camera, I think it was the 4th attempt. Most were killed in the very beginning (second riff, that’s harmonized).

check out the Abbey Road remaster of the first 3 opeth albums, released some months ago. Not an astounding difference from the original, but overall better
