Sorry not sorry but Opeth lost me after they stopped being a Death Metal band. They formed as a Death Metal band and slowly went prog rock and shit the fucking bed. I will always love Opeth, as far as post Watershed and possibly Heritage they suck. Mikael said himself he doesn’t give a shit about anything but money now so there ya go. Fuck em

This has given me a new perspective to listen to Sorceress. To see how the tracks were recorded, what emotions were involved, and how overall the band and producer felt, is very important and it sets a tone and mindset for the listener

Plenty of death metal bands out there, rock music was in short supply. I wouldn't call the change in direction "selling out". In fact it was brave. Thanks Opeth.

I once heard Mikael slating electronic music just like any rock purist, so I was pleasantly surprised to see him handling a Moog synthesiser! After all, rock and metal wouldn't exist without the wonders of electronic engineering.

The album is so uniquely great, I think especially spring mcmlxxiv, that Frederik is playing here, could be a number one single. Quite a shame that most of the reviews in the prog and metall magazines don't even mention it.

One thing I learned from 20 years in bands is to let everyone contribute. The Dark Side of the Moon approach. Otherwise it's too one dimensional and you don't get full effort from all the band.
