Opeth. What to say. Completely changed mu life. Even as a musician. When I first listened to this song I even could relate to the lyrics, it is truly a masterpiece. One of the most talented people gathered to create this. I just can't describe how much I love this band, throught their entire carreer.

Hit the nail on the head, these guys inspired me to buy my first guitar because it just sucked me in like no other music ever has. I remember putting on headphones and laying on the bed or couch and closing my eyes listening to their albums. Some of the most complete writing in my opinion. They do it all. Mikael is a genius.

Probably my favorite Opeth album and that's saying a lot. I call them the pink floyd of metal. The journey they take you on in they're music is a nightmarish fairy tale, filled with beautiful darkness.

My parents gave me £20 for my 15th birthday (2003) so I went to my local HMV (UK record store) and bought this album alongside Dark Throne's Transylvanian Hunger. I have since listened to Still Life at least 500 times all the way through. My favourite song on the album too. Thank you for reacting to it. Not many on KZbin. BTW, that strat-lick at 5:20 was a genre-opening moment for me as a teen. I owe Opeth for opening my mind to so many genres and sub genres outside of Metal.

Kept warm by the light of the lantern Lost sight of everything tonight My presence blackens their pattern A pock in the healthy and calm Their scorn behind your back My promise would put them down No trace of reverence left Immemorial fire in their eyes I would perish at the given signal At the slightest touch from my soul Tainted prophet in flesh For all the plagued and lost Dripping sin Decision in stalemate Dare to feel death at hand Surprised me with its voice Through the forest came the morn Across the leafy pathway Their deeds smeared in blood For all to behold The council of the cross Must have sensed my coming The pest through the air With despise for squalor Lashing out at the poor I turned away my eyes In pallor escape from the end Fading time to leave from here And less to fulfill my task She would be safe and firm Nothing of this is in vain Taken away from stifling grace And saved from the past

Spot on maybe the best on Still Life. Best way to describe the song is flowing transitions like no other. Martin Lopez is the drummer through Ghost Reveries, he's my favorite and made me better but as far as being great , Martin Axenrot is off the charts and very hard to follow. On the GR album there's a DVD, Mickael creates the drumming and in the studio Martin Lopez comes in and records. Another reason why Mickael is unbelievable.
