From which book you have got the practical application of spherical equipment seriously I am reading Elkington it's a good book but I felt why I want to know man about spherical equivalent man I just didn't pay much attention to it I read and saw how to calculate it and left that topic fast thinking it has little or no practical significance but it does have both for optometrists mainly and also for Ophthalmologists ! If spherical power 0 dsph and cylinder power -1.50 dcyl , what is the spherical equivalent?

1. New sphere = alegrebaic sum of sphere & cylinder = 0 + (-1.50) = -1.50 2. New cylinder is numerically same with opposite sign = +1.50 3. Rotate cylinder through 90 0 4. So if prescription is 0 / -1.50 x 180 a. Spherical Equivalent → -1.50 / +1.50 x 90 5. If prescription is 0 / -1.50 x 90 a. Spherical equivalent →-1.50 / +1.50 x 180

That is not correct,this is true if you want to change the -/+ sign of the prescription.the correct SE is -0,75sph
