Totally not fair at all. Opie came first. He made Anthony. We probably still wouldn't know who the fuck Anthony Cumia is if it wasn't for Gregg Hughes. If anything, Ant would be higher on the "luckiest" list. Robin Quivers was/is nothing but a talentless yes man/brown noser extraordinaire. I was at the broadcast at union square for Howard’s last broadcast and the sirius radio giveaway. The “pests” were ALL the way in the back practically out of sight. I didn’t see them until after the show was over headed back to the subway. They were insignificant compared to how many people were there for Howard. Opie is delusional!

Jimmy and his comedian friends made the difference on O&A, not the hosts. Ant was witty enough to hang with the comedians but Opie always stopped the flow.

I have said it elsewhere on another version of this clip... there was nothing like Stern to bring Opie and Anthony together. It is also notable that Jimmy isn't around and not breaking up the old school "tag team" vibe Op and Ant have here, which I didn't really think about the first time I heard this. Jimmy certainly added something to show (though his characters were mostly terrible, annoying, and cringey), but I never really grasped the wedge his presence created (not that he was intentionally doing it). He changed the dynamic of the O&A partnership. It was simultaneously good in some ways, bad in others.

@1x0x I think Opie was somewhat jealous of them having more natural comedic talent than him, but I think it was also about Opie getting pissed that he was the only one of the three that did any show prep and tried to have some semblance of structure and sanity. He would have things sort of planned out, and they would just ignore and shit on his scheduling ideas. He was the guy that created the show, and I think he always felt unappreciated and that they were ungrateful.
