I think the reason some of those top 40 stations promote artists instead of jocks is because most people are listening for the music not the talk. Sometimes Opie, in his infinite radio wisdom (since he was 18, etc) refuses to acknowledge or believe that there are still some people out there who listen to radio for music. Crazy as it sounds, there are still a few.
