Jimmy was so right about Todd, you knew he was thinking "as soon as I dump pops over there i'm gonna be a star and be popular with the kids" What does his new show contain, the same old shit! I think thIs interview showed the major obstacle to Scott's radio show before he split with Todd. He's not that funny here but he's honest, humble and generally interested in the conversation. He remembered all these tid bits he picked up about Anthony and the show in general. He was willing to be honest about how he felt during the humiliating jocktobers. He completely took the fun fans got out of trashing him. When he was with that phony parody singing buffoon he was expected to keep up with the safe unrevealing "jokes" so every time he tried to get sincere todd would shut him down. Ie Todd made a retarded jay Leno/jerky boys/jar jar binks style monologue about the dmv and Scott tries to explain why he thinks the dmv people become such pricks Todd cuts him off...Scott could have saved. The bit there with sincere discussion that could have produced the jokes

You hit the nail on the head. I listen to Scott regularly and, honestly, it's just the way you described it. He and Patty Steele just have regular conversations on the show and every once in awhile, he says something funny. He's not Opie, Anthony and Jim at their peak funny, but that's not who is. He's just a regular guy with a good sense of humor and the ability to be real. Everything about Todd's radio persona is fake. The calls, the voice, the bad parodies, the bad jokes. He lacks sincerity and credibility. Jimmy picked up on it, as did you and many others. That's why he's doing a podcast to 40 people a day and Scott (in his 70s) is still doing it every day in NYC to an audience of millions.

Was always sorta Team Scott for the fact that his bad radio - the blithering old man saying dumb things - was hilarious, whereas Todd's bad radio - the song parodies, the phone scams, the put-on voice - was phony and irritating, and for the fact Scott clearly cared about the show, always laughing at Todd's horrid jokes even though Todd never had the decency to pay him back in kind or else just tell him to stop with the forced laughter altogether. But this is a new day. Scott just proved he's still got it. Buried under Todd's shit though it may have been for years, it never died, and in 15 glorious minutes, Scott Shannon's legend was revitalized.
