Perfect example of how the whole is more than the sum it its parts. Anthony makes a point (the validity of which is not being commented on), and before beating it into the ground, as he would, Capt. Gregorio steers the ship right to Ted town and Jimmy smashes it. Great stuff.
@jefffawcett8 жыл бұрын
no, Anthony doesn't make a good point, he has the logic of a child. those jobs have been 100% white forever because the unions have kept blacks out. I used to do the benefit payments for the carpenter and electrician unions for the largest TV commercial production company in NY. Everyone was Italian, with brothers and sons and uncles and Tony the III. That is why those programs are needed

HE STEERS THE SHOW! I SMELL GREAT BIT! THIS IS GREAT RADIO! I SHOULD KNOW, HAVING DONE IT SINCE I WAS 18!!!! Jesus, I can't believe Opie lovers honestly believe that it's some kind of talent to tell comic geniuses, "Hey, you! Be funny!" It's like The Simpsons episode where Mr Burns takes credit for telling Darryl Strawberry to hit a home run.

I keep thinking the only time I find Opie funny is when he starts trying to goad out some Ted from Jimmy, but "It's like The Simpsons episode where Mr Burns takes credit for telling Darryl Strawberry to hit a home run" really puts it in perspective. "Hey, you! Be funny!" is like another Simpsons clip too. Lt. L.T. Smash: You got Liminal, Subliminal, and SUPERliminal. Lisa: Superliminal? Lt. L.T. Smash: HEY YOU! JOIN THE NAVY! Otto: OK!

They probably should have just called the program "An opportunity for lower income brackets to break into film making" since it's traditionally something only middle class and up young people can break into (most of the schools teaching it are super expensive, you need your own money to make projects, and you have to survive long unpaid/unemployed periods when starting out). It would have had the same end effect of being predominantly minority applicants.
@BusterCherry18 жыл бұрын
Jimmy's joke at 2:42 hit a bit closer to home than he could realize. MLK plagiarized his dissertation and plagiarized the _I Have a Dream_ speech from a Chicago pastor named Archibald Carey.
@Redbob8613 жыл бұрын
@FATALFURYKID His own university admits that he plagerized his thesis. I'd post the Snopes link, but youtube does not allow me to post such things. And his "I Have a Dream" speech was plagerized from Archibald Carney, another civil rights activist from the 1950's. Pay particularly close attention to the endings of both speeches.

I know what you mean i live in shity south texas and alot of places here wont give you a job unless youre bilingual. They wont pay you more for it, they kinda just expect you to be. @yousamisa The irony of your comment and this video is quite funny. First off, racist means one believes that one race is genetically or physically superior than another. The word you are looking for is prejudice. Second, I'm sure what your saying is exactly how most minorities felt, not 30-40 years ago, except people actually saw them as genetically inferior. Third those programs are put there b/c there are too many white people that were hired, instead of minorities, based on race.
