Regarding point 1: This is absolutely not true in the OSR RPG scene. Die rolls are made in the open, and player characters die frequently. This is a pretty big movement that has grown a lot in the last few years. Definitely check it out - I'm on my 16th character in my campaign! And its not just unfair DMs being unfair - there is a big emphasis on playing the world, and treating combat as almost a fail state. I'm not saying it'll make everything click for you, but rather that not every game makes the PCs immortal!

I’ve had a hard time explaining the types of board games I like and I have to say that you’ve given a voice to the feelings I’ve had as well and I 100% agree. I was thinking of Men of Iron with your cry havoc example and number of times some idiot unit does a continue attack to get disordered and retreat breaking a line and the stories that then follow are great! Thank you for this series of videos! Great stuff!!!!

I love this series and its insights. I'm so happy every time you add to it! Here's hoping you go back and add English versions of Feudum, Root, and Empire of the Sun I already know the rules ... but I just like hearing you teach them!

Jean, as you are a big Magic Realms fan: Did you hear about the game Dragons Down and if yes, what do you think about it? I would really love to get into Magic Realms but it is a bit frustrating that you either have to buy it overpriced second hand or tinker your own version. Dragons Down looks promising but I hope all the streamlining will not kill the immersion which Magic Realm seems to deliver.
