If it was 100% about making a proxy why not just have no barcode to scan and make the cert number 00000000. Easy way to seperate the proxies from real slabs. Putting a real barcode to scan and a real cert number automatically makes you suspicious.

If pokemon cards were still "affordable" this might not be the end of the world. But we can all agree, I think, that scamming people out of $2000 is pretty much straight up criminal activity. There is no simple way to put it other than that. Stay careful out there peeps. When in doubt, ask several people if something is real, and learn WHY for yourself so that you become wiser and can rely on your own skills. But also, if you aren't there yet, maybe avoid things that could be a bamboozle. There are lots of fakes I see out there. Slabs, no slabs, new fakes, old fakes coming out of little billy's childhood collection. Sorry billy, your mom bought you fakes, she thought it was okay, and that you wouldn't care. Ebay regularly upholds fake cards, so you can't trust them to clean out fakes. Trust me, I've given up reporting fakes. They just auto reply that a "human" reviewed the report and thinks its real.

All this makes me think that there should be a global blacklist of these sellers somewhere. The new people are bound to get screwed over sooner or later, and it's impossible to educate everyone. If we had some kind of system or website that new people could visit, it would be a good start. Allow others to see list of fake card sellers and search for product to determine if it's a legit item, or a "proxy" or whatever.
