I live near the town and lab they built. It’s a fair sized town today: Los Alamos, New Mexico. They’ve got great museums about this stuff too, I think the original lab is a museum too. Can’t wait for this movie.

This movie is going to be amazing. The cast is packed with stars, including Gary Oldman playing President Truman who we’ve only got to hear from the teaser trailer, the story is fascinating and it’s from one of the greatest directors working today. And this film is going to be 3 hours long from all the reports that have come out regarding Oppenheimer. I’m seeing this day one at my closest IMAX theater.

I’m excited for this movie but I hope people don’t go into it thinking it’s just about the bomb. It will most likely cover Oppenheimer after the war as well and how he was persecuted because he realized what he created and spoke out against it. There’s a video of Oppenheimer describing what it was like at the Trinity test and he’s a broken man in the video.

I wouldn’t be surprised either. On a serious note, I remember watching a documentary with my family about the bombings from the perspective of the survivors. One of the accounts was a woman whose family lived in a rural area when it hit. They were eating breakfast at the time. It completely destroyed us.😔

Looks like a great movie - but for accuracy puzzled why the bombs explosive blocks are shown being handled like they don’t weigh much - well known that these were almost the weight of concrete and a chain-hoist and suction cup system was used to assemble them. Same thing where two men are shown “one handing” the insertion of the 105 pound core cylinder which was also actually done with a chain-hoist.

Nolan Ryan is to todays cinema, what John Hughes was to the 80’s. They each have movies that are staples of their generation, both are great storytellers, and they both have a list of preferred, actors/actresses they can rely on, who they work well with, and who, when the director calls them, can’t wait to get on board with them again.
