It's very clear that the doctors screwed John over with the cancer tumor in his brain. Now it makes sense when he was diagnosed with cancer in Saw 1 and got more sicker in Saw 2.

Just FYI but this movie doesn't shine a light on him having cancer. He already was diagnoised with cancer and within this movie he goes to Mexico to get special treatment but instead of curing him they scammed him. The movie takes place between Saw 1 and 2 not before he gets cancer.

That shot of Billy The Puppet riding out with the medical table got me flashbacks to that "Working With Jigsaw" video you react to back in the day. I love that. Also, yes. This takes place between SAW 1 and SAW 2 since Amanda is back as his apprentice and the voice at the very beginning sounds like Hoffman, who we don't see until SAW 3 in person.

They really should do a prequel and show us how John became who he is with the first traps. We got flashbacks, but I want to see a full-fledged movie about it. This story is between Saw 1 and 2.

Jigsaw is technically about the first game. Just that Logan recreated the game to get back at Halloran for being a dirty cop.

@JohnMnemonic94 they should also do a sequel after a prequel and follow the doctors path after the events of Saw 3D and show us what plans Cramer gave to him to continue his work. We also never saw Hoffman die. So to see a sequel where Hoffman would have escaped just like he did the bear trap, and turn into a battle of the wits between them both by setting traps in order to get to one another would be epic. They need to continue the original story, in my opinion.

@@abrimfulofasha The problem with Gordon was that even though he was an apprentice, he wasn't as involved as Amanda, Hoffman, and Logan. Gordon did help with the more medical traps sure, but he did go back to his normal life as a doctor and was only asked to come back if Jill was harmed. So after taking care of Hoffman, Gordon was done. The only chance for a sequel is if Logan continues to be Jigsaw.

SO interesting! Having lost my mom to cancer recently , this premise has me rooting for Jigsaw. Guy thought he was getting this amazing procedure to get the tumor and they scammed him ,.. FOR MONEY!!! So yeah, payback!!! Great new twist becasue otherwise I wasn’t interested in ANOTHER saw movie ,..a prequel that’s an origin story,..and THIS story ,..yeah.

Almost every trap was real. The props team would construct a literal death trap, then proof it to keep it from being lethal. For example, the Needle Pit in Saw II was actually filled with hundreds of needles.

This is semi true. They made a short movie as an idea to pitch (Saw 0.5), Leigh Whannell was put in the bear trap instead of amanda. That one was actually functional, but the one Amanda was wearing wasn't.

These might be the most terrifying traps I have ever seen in the saw franchise since they are medical based and is incredibly personal and wants vengeance upon those who lied to him and giving him the slightest bit of hope that he could live. I remember SAW 6 when John whent to his insurance company to get cobered an experiential procedure for historical cancer and he would be drop from coverage if he proceeded. Looks like he did anyway. He did say he has money. It's about principle!

The whole story is about john getting scamed by these doctors and then doing the usual to teach them a lesson. It also takes place between 1 and 2. The whole story is basically telling us how and why John is so sick and weak in saw 2. This is also the main reason why I love saw, it's that john is teaching these horrible people to actually care for their lives even though he does take it too far.
