Thanks for the detailed review, I wanted this phone since the moment I saw it in the mall in Guangzhou! I liked everything about the phone! I was aware of the software issues as I am a former developer, but I guess this phone will be my best option especially since I have a busy lifestyle and besides its all amazing hardware, battery, and camera, it takes 27 minutes exactly to charge in full! I guess I am just gonna go ahead and buy the phone, thanks one more time for the detailed review.

This helped with my buying decision because its talking about actual normal phone use and not constantly talking about the camera. Used it for a week and for me all the social media apps and youtube and home screen etc uses 120hz and high resolution even though i have it set on adaptive. So far I rarely feel the lower hz except for reading apps or articles. Maybe its from an update since you posted the review. I agree the speakers are very slightly annoying with the bottom being a bit louder. Customizibility is also hit and miss. I can use icon packs but widgets are kind of weak. One thing i hate the most is double tap sleep button and it opens that wallet thing that will pop up even if you turn it off and uninstall. Same with the homescreen magazine thing was annoying. (If screen is off you can turn on double tap any volume button for camera) Also the camera setting with flash not saving must have been updated because mine saves. Notifs are immediate and on time for all the apps I set up to allow notifications. Its actually annoying when first setting up the phone but now everything is great including calls etc. Battery life is amazing 8:30 hrs screen on time but using adaptive. (Charging is ridiculously fast) I suggest get 16gb ram, i have 12 and it uses 8gb just for the system with no apps open, but actually when im using the phone with lots of apps open i feel no lag or anything. Its kind of psychological to see 8gb used out of 12 in developers options but honestly hasnt affected my day to day use in smoothness. My only other super minor thing is I wish it would connect to primary and secondary wifi automatically because it never connects to secondary on its own. Otherwise great normal human experience with the phone and ofc needless to say the camera is great.

Thank hog for the review. Fundamental question, can you install a custom launcher like Nova Launcher? Because most phones allow it and that will solve most of your ColorOS issues. However some Chinese phones lock the users out of installing another launcher. Curious to know about this phone. Thanks again :)

Thanks for the great review. I am used to the colorOS coming from find x3 pro so i am ok with the cons you mentioned. i was considering the S23 ultra but the camera shutter lag and charging rate is too slow for me

Having the X3, X5, and the X6 series, I have kept the s23+ in my pocket as a daily. The software experience is just too unpolished for my taste.

Great video. I want to take the leap and import this phone to the states, but I'm not sure if google messages will work properly. My last Oppo Kodak edition wouldn't recieve or send group and picture text. That's a deal breaker no matter how good the phone looks.

i live in China so I've never had to deal with those myself. However, knowing China as well as I do, I would recommend buying things from Shenzhen directly.

Just a heads up: The mi 13U will be launched globally CN version may not support 5G in your locality. Oppo on the other hand is CN only and should support 5G.

what about the notifications? ive heard chinese os versions are more aggressive in killing background apps and some people who have imported in the past said that they get delayed notifications on lock screen or only when they open the app again.

Most Chinese iterations of Android kill background apps, so notifications are either late, or they don't show up at all.

@@Serbofreak yeah, i have that problem with my huawei too and its even more annoying than the missing google apps. i miss emails and messages a lot of times and even internet calls because my phone decided to kill the app even after i allowed it to run in background -_-

Im choosing the oppo between the Chinese phones because it will be the slowest one to show its age, being the only one with wifi 6e and 7 (the xiaomi only have 6e and vivo have neither) and it's the only one with the promise of 1600 consecutive charge&discharge cycle till dropping battery health to 80%(nearly 4.5 years)

i had the find x5 pro china version and the theme store was all in chinise also when i chose a new always on display theme is said the time only in chinise it was so annoying i sold it after just having it for 1 month i get what you are saying the only good thing this phone has is the camera nothing else
