[CORRECTION] Well, the bad news is that I'm an idiot -- but the good news is that you CAN indeed set a double-click-power-to-camera shortcut on the Xiaomi 13 Pro. Reason I didn't see it: it's in Settings > Additional Settings > Gestures, instead of in the actual camera app settings (where I'd expect it to be). MrMobile regrets the error, but thanks to all who called this out!

13:00 there is also another way Michael. On Oppo at least: Screen-off gestures. Just draw a circle on your sleeping screen, it launches the camera instantly. You just have to set it up in settings first coz it's not on by default. I use the feature on my super budget Realme where I also draw a "V" shape to start the flashlight. It lets you also map a M, W, upside down V as well as left right up and down swipes to launch other apps and functions. It works 98% of the time on my cheap device so on a flagship it will be every bit as reliable as a button. And remember you regularly change phones. A heavy photo taker using that power button method on one device exclusively for four years: yeaaah that's not gonna end well, it will definitely wear out. Or maybe you did try screen-off gestures when they were still new and you found the feature buggy and unreliable but trust me, today it's pretty damn good. The learning curve is also not that steep, I took to it like a duck to water. Please give it a try next time you use an Oppo/Realme/Vivo phone, I believe the feature is a mainstay on many devices from the BBK group - hell maybe even OnePlus uses it now.

I see that John Deer is trying their damn hardest to win back goodwill over their right to repair hostility. Really strange that they're going after tech tube, perhaps because they know the farmers they're directly screwing over are going to be more difficult to fool? 0:09 Ooooooooooof that edge glow. The Oppo just is having trouble with this all through the video, except for the sunset shots. The Xiaomi's fake bokeh still doesn't look right. The Oppo does seem to do an okay job, though. I do miss carting around a "proper" camera, sometimes, but every time I take one on a jaunt - be it for event coverage or some simple street photography - I am reminded of why I don't, anymore. It's simply much less easy to position yourself for good shots in crowded environs, or to covertly take snaps on the street. The only things I've shot in recent years that I would consider carting around everywhere are compacts like the Ricoh GRIIIx and the Sony RX100. Cameras you can pocket as easily as... a phone. And both cost as much as a flagship phone.

My take is it's fine, and nice thing that you got to go on this trip. It is a personal choice. But we all have to be honest about John deere's purpose for this. To win some Goodwill with tech reviewers. While they're embroidered in the middle of anti right to repair anti-consumer practices. It's not because people are mean to them, and people haven't been mean to them. If anything most of us would default to thinking of them as a family company supporting farmers. As the name and logo would suggest. But they have been some of the most anti-consumer monopolistic people possible. Lobbying on every front, making it seem like right to repair will kill people. Acting like it's theft of their property when they refuse to fix things for weeks, that are incredibly crucial for farmers.... The people they claim to serve. Oh and they benefit from open source software which they use, while trying to block any method of decoupling the serializations that farmers try to use to get their own things to work..... And the ironic thing is that that open source license that they signed up for, actually requires them to keep it open source. So they are actually running a foul legally with high odds too.
@abanoubshahid9829
@abanoubshahid9829 Жыл бұрын
And it makes it all the funnier when someone on their side would say that it's the person's fault for buying the tractor..... When the very company is the one using a contract that stipulates legally the open source nature of any derivatives. It's nice to be treated well, whether by John Deere or others, but let's not pretend it is done out of the goodness of their hearts. For the betterment of technology. It's an image and marketing campaign and when it comes to them, their image is rightfully shot "by thine own hands".

While I hate John Deere for being a terrible company and having horrible anti-consumer, anti-right to repair, and deplorable ethics, I cannot say this affects Mr Mobile, or the content. He's here for Xiaomi and Oppo's photography-focused phones, not for John Deere outside the technology behind it, which is interesting. Self-driving tractors are interesting. John Deere has no editorial input, and frankly had nothing to do here besides be in the background, provide travel and lodging, and host the setting of this video. That's it. I personally do not think Mr. Mobile is doing anything truly bad by going to a John Deere event with no interest in a video about them, but John Deere is a really bad business, and I feel it's better for content creators, regardless of field or interest, to avoid interacting with the brand. But again, it's just travel and lodging, they are not stuffing words into anyone's mouth, they're just an evil megacorp that took a ton of tech journalists to Texas and back. Anyway, ENOUGH about tractors, can we talk about how the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is really trying to be what the Lumia 1020 was a decade ago? Like if they release the 13 Ultra in July, just like the iconic Windows Mobile handset, then it'll be clear as day. Though the camera grip might already do that. It's such a shame Oppo isn't in North America, the Find X6 looks jaw-droppingly divine and that camera just looks spectacular, and as someone who means to take better, higher quality photos so they can be timeless, the colour science has me sold, and I'm _hung up_ on those excellent portrait photos. Edit: TYPOS TYPOS TYPOS

The camera phones, these 2 included, are all missing an important point, the lack of an SD card slot. People who buy camera phones take lots of photos and videos. Where can they store these photos and videos? On the pathetic 512GB memory onboard? That's ridiculous!!! 512GB is not going to last you long. They either offer an SD card slot, or have standard memory starting at 512GB. 1T must be an option. But sad to say, many of these, the highest memory caps at 512GB. Though I'm super interested in some of them, I will not buy any without at least 1TB onboard. So almost all these, I can pass.

The Xiaomi 13 series design looks so unapologetically boring. It's lazy, uninspiring, dull, is like the designers ran out of time for the design and come up with this dull look in less than 5 mins and called it a day. It's not minimalistic, it's basic, there's a difference. Being minimalistic means bringing a lot despite working with less. This isn't that, this is just plain basic It reminds me of the Galaxy S20 design which is so stupidly boring too. But Samsung fixed that immediately just a few months after with the Note20

Mrmobile, would you personally use any of these phones mentioned above or the S23 ultra, if you had the option???

For the camera, it would be a really tough choice because I would really miss the Hasselblad toys and striking industrial design of the Oppo. But there's no question the Samsung is the better phone for Western markets, and I'm also one of the people who enjoys the S Pen ... so I'd have to go with the 23 Ultra.

Sorry no, I'd watch your reviews on occasion for entertainment, but I cannot support you being part of a companies shoddy PR attempt at trying to brush away right to repair concerns. Why would you even take such a sponsorship? It has no relation to your content at all? Do better.

@æ Yep, they put out a lot of statements to various media outlets stating that. Except it's complete BS, the memorandum does little to empower farmers at all. Spend more than 5 minutes on a simple google search. There absolutely is something wrong with what they've done. Louis Rossmann, one of the most active proponants of right to repair, has done a video on this discussing it with a farmer if you'd like to know more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bV61mIKLiZitm9E
