No regular find X8 in my country, the Netherlands😢😢. So no upgrade from my Find x5. I will now look for a bargain on the regular Xiaomi 14! Ticks all my boxes. Not a Big Miui/ColorOS guy, but manageable with Nova launcher. Thanks as always for the video Chris. I love these Chinese releases❤

Great comparison/review of the 2. Some weird decisions OPPO did with the camera though, I'd still had put in a one inch type sensor in the Pro model, maybe the one from the X6 Pro to cut down costs and still make the upcoming X8 Ultra stand out. And the bloat on a global Pro model, that's not done at all. Already looking forward to the, I assume, upcoming camera comparison with the Vivo X200 Pro. Which I think is the better of the 2.

For the longest time iqoo shipped c to c charger. I couldn't understand why oppo and vivo for that matter, still shipped A to C chargers. Less universally usable with laptops. The other things seems fine with their latest release.

I wish that non-pro variants of all phones powered by flagship & upper mid-range chipsets (including flagship killers) should be given at least a USB 3.0 port just like Xiaomi 14 & 15 non-pro variants. Sure, not many people will utilize video out's function, but they can benefit from faster transfers for larger files (eg. phone to USB-C 3.0 flash drive).

I adore the size of the vanilla Oppo X8. Feels like the perfect size. The video stabilization on the X8 Pro's 6x looks a bit janky. Maybe they can fix that with an update 7:47 That 15x shot has really bad halo artifacting due to oversharpened zooming. Oppo has to bring some updates. Especially the video footage doesn't look like flagship IMO. Very contrasty too. Photos look amazing though.

These optical fp readers simply can't be placed higher up because they are too thick to fit above the battery. It's a common complaint against many optical fp sensors. It's not like these brands think most people would actually prefer that the sensors be placed so low. Note that ultrasonic readers are almost always placed higher on the screen because those are just thinner so can fit right above the battery.

A very helpful comparison. I'm surprised at the battery life though. Unless you had the brightness cranked right up, those battery test scores are pretty low, especially for such big batteries.

Vivo and its sub brand Iqoo alongside Xiaomi pushes the mobile processor to its maximum capacity while Oppo/OnePlus doesn't ( particularly in summer) ( In India summer gets real hot ) but Oppo's sub brand Realme actually pushes the chipset to their max potential in every budget.

I feel like there is a huge amount of room to improve in most android phones in the battery optimisation. There's phones with 4300-5000mah batteries that perform way better than you'd expect (e.g in some tests nothing 2a plus actually outlasts the Find x8 pro, also some crazy performance from Motorola and Sony phones with much smaller cells) so with the new silicon carbide batteries there's so much room for improvement.

The camera hardware on Find X8 Pro is disappointing. The main cam uses the smaller Sony LYT-808 1/1.4" sensor instead of the LYT-900, 3x/73mm telephoto cam with LYT-600, ISOCELL JN5 ultrawide cam, and Sony IMX858 for the 6x/135mm periscope telephoto cam. The Oppo Find X6 Pro which is two years old, had the most impressive camera hardware on a smartphone. I think Oppo starts relying on software to improved computational photography and maybe in order to keep the price down so the Find X8 Pro won't be as expensive as the Find X7 Ultra. No autofocus on the selfie cam, common Oppo.

Oppo and Oneplus both seem to come closer to each other. They might be streamlining both brands under the same umbrella. I still favor Oneplus as here in Australia it is possible to order it on line a bit cheaper while Oppo remains expensive as a brand in the brick and mortar stores. I also would still prefer Snapdragons over Dimensity for compatibilty reasons.

Hmm 🤔 Honestly, these two products leave me a little doubtful and above all have a soulless design compared to the Find X6 and X7 🤦🏽‍♂️ No more 1" 📸 sensor, optical fingerprint reader very badly positioned when all the competition switched to ultrasonic readers..., unless the Oppo Find X8 Pro costs a lot less than the OnePlus 13, Xiaomi 15 / 15 Pro and Vivo X200 Pro (which I highly doubt knowing Oppo), I don't see how it's going to sell better than them 🤷🏽‍♂️ The main targets of this Oppo Find X8 Pro are clearly the iPhone 16 Pro and the upcoming S25 Plus, however, with all due respect to Oppo and with all due respect to some people, Oppo has already lost this fight before it even starts 😮‍💨 On the other hand, every day of the year I prefer this Oppo Find X8 Pro to the Pixel 9 Pro XL 🤧 Ps: the worse of both products is the standard Find X8, honestly unless it has great promotions and comes with freebies when it comes out, I really don't see how it's going to sell well.

Pro has more glare on the edges due to those curved edges. I thought it would not have this much reflection on edges because of micro curve instead of a full curve.

I am a little bit disappointed that chinese brands dont give us options. I live in Czech republic. The best phone they brought is Vivo X100 Pro and it is only in black colour with 512GB storage. I would love to see 1TB version in blue colour for example, it is already expensive phone so why i do not have a choice to buy what I want? There is just the option to buy it from China, but sometimes it doesnt support my language

Not sure I'd get another Oppo after my Find X5 Lite. It dies when the battery is at 20% and when I say dies I mean no warning, no clean shutdown, black screen, dead as a doornail. I charge it up wait to full, then until battery gets to 25% before charging again using 2a charger and watch the battery indicator continue to go down to 10% before it starts to replenish. Had it boot loop several times, the only fix was to factory reset and so then have to muck about reinstalling all my apps. Randomly decides the sd card is no longer installed. Truely awful phone.
