To think that that beautiful wonderland has been purposely destroyed. All the trees and landscaping, magnificent architecture, rides and young people gone with the wind.

I wish someone had clips or more information about the Tilton Hilton (Or The Angle Inn). I have searched everywhere and found nothing. Since I was a kid, I have always wanted to know the layout and how it was designed to create the illusions - also the tricks performed during the show.

LOL....to this day, I refuse to go to Opry Mills (never have...never will)!

This is another great clip. Thank you for posting. Opry Mills isn't even high end. The mall is full of second-tier stores. The destruction of the Opryland Themepark will go down as one of the worst events in Nashville's history.

I miss Opryland big time. Great seeing these old movies. It was one of a kind. Not just another amusement park with water rides and huge rollercoasters. Can't believe it got sold off for a stupid mall. It's not coming back and wouldn't be the same if it did.

Thought I would miss it less as time passed but I miss it more. What reason would one have to close down such a beautiful and unique park to build a boring chopping center???

This is so not fair. I was 5 years old when they tore Opryland down. Now they say that tearing down Opryland was a HUGE mistake. yeah. it really was. I really wish i could have experienced Opryland USA

HAha. Did anyone else pick up the performer receiving line at :45 where the egotistical insincere singer said "its so nice to see you. Tell me how wonderful I was?"

Once, me and my brother got in trouble for spitting out of the buckets that ran overhead. The security guys made us sit in a little office and they paged our parents. That was in 1983. So if two kids spat on you back then, it was likely us... Sorry!

Wished i'd gotten to ride Grizzly River Rampage then....never did though. :( I am STILL curious about what that bear looked like in the cave. Anyone know, did it jump out at the riders, did it have glowing eyes in the dark, what'd it do? I know someone must know. lol :)
@aprilpinkard99295 жыл бұрын
001GenLee The bear didn't jump out. It was just a stuffed bear standing up in a recessed area inside the cave. It had its paws up like it was about to maul something and it's teeth bared like it was growling. The cave was dark most of the way through and then strobe lights would suddenly flash on the bear and growling bear noises would play really loudly. The bear never moved. I can't remember about the eyes. Nothing jumped out, but it would have been cool if it did. I always got off Rampage soaked. It was awesome!

in several instances, gaylord entertaimnet attempted to partner with various theme park operators to bring a theme park back to nashville. herschend entertaiment, the operators of silver dollar city and dollywood, developed several themed concepts, including a new redeveloped opryland park, complete with musical themed lands, exciting rides, and uplifting shows. just as the project was to be announced the 2008 recession hit. herschend and gaylord tried to partner again in 2012- this time with herschend star ambassador, dolly parton. the two companies were pairing up to build the largest water park in the USA, complete with non-water attractions, shows, and winter activities to avoid the seasonalty problem that plagued the original park. herschend would manage the new park, and gaylord entertainment would provide the land, a large percentage of the construction and development costs and the name opryland. this project fell apart, too, with gaylord's decision to sell it''s hotel brand and partner with marriort to mange the hotels. in 2012 gaylord entertainment converted itself into a real estate compnany and changed it name to ryman hospitality. the compnany still owns resort once known as the opyland hotel, as well as its four sister resort. however, day-to-day operations for the hotels, are now managed by marriott international. ryman hospitality's entertainment brands are managed by its opry entertainment subsidiary. those business units include the grand ole opry, wsm-am, the ryman auditorium, the opry city stage bar/restaurant in times aquare. and the company's percentage of the former nashville television series on abc. since ryman hospitality is now primarily a real estate trust, it cannot hold to these type of assets indefinitly. as of spring 2016, ryman hospitality is attempting to grow the etertainment divsion before spinning them off into its own company. p.s there is a book about opryland theme park which you can buy here:www.amazon.com/Opryland-USA-Images-Modern-America/dp/1467116335

Didn't the mall create more than triple the jobs that Opryland offered? Don't more people visit the mall every day than Opryland had in a week? Get over it. It happened to the World's Fair in Queens. Look on the bright side. Nashville has greatly improved over the last fifteen years.

see what happens when diversity in a town rises. You lose all the good stuff.
@newclothes81655 жыл бұрын
We lost Opryland because the owners saw a mall open year round as being a better business deal. Has nothing to do with diversity.
