Pension in UK is very good, even if you relocate to another country or back to Nigeria as long as you have a pension account you're contributing to while working here you will be paid. My mum only work here for 6 years and went back to Nigeria to work for one of the top Nigeria bank as a company secretary for more than 16yrs. Before she passed 2years ago. Her pension was £350 monthly while her top tier Nigeria Bank only pays her 22000 naira monthly. My aunt is back in Nigeria and her pension is paid on monthly basis from here.

How does one unify pensions from different part-time jobs as an international student?

I can't opt out, a friend of mine Dad contributed and now that he is retired and he stays mainly in 9ja and can you imagine the rate of exchange presently and how much his dad is enjoying now for not opting out then.

Even if you leave the UK soon, you can request for your pension contributions to be transferred to a new pension service provider in your new country.

Enrolling for pension is a no brainer. Either you wish to remain in the country or not. Your UK pension can be claimed from anywhere in the world. Also, for me, the money removed from the salary into the pension pot is small in the grand scheme of things. Sadly, many people opt out because we don't plan for retirement early enough.

I don’t think it’s a good financial decision if you are not planning to stay back in the UK. Reason is because, what becomes of the amount so far contributed if you eventually leave the Uk after a year or two? I think it’s much better and of utmost importance for everyone planning to stay back.

I do tell my friends that, enrolling students for Pension would never make sense to me, because how the hell do you still want to collect from 20hrs
@DanielJesuloba
@DanielJesuloba 28 күн бұрын
@@joyoverflow3671 there is a percentage of your earning that goes into Pension contributions regardless of how much you earn from 20hrs But I agree on your bias on paying pension as an international student

Hope you know you can claim your UK pension from anywhere in the world. You don't need to be in the UK to claim it.

It is a no brainer. Keep it straight. Even if you plan to leave the UK, get your ILR and/or citizenship and then go back to wherever you want to draw on your pension via regular payments or bulk sum.

Do you think its advisable to pay pension on a second job (bank) and is there any impact on ILR application later on? I pay pension on my main job

You can contribute to as many pensions from as many jobs as you want, as long as you do not breach the £60k per financial year limit.

It’s mandatory for all employers to auto enroll their employees.

Pension contribution schemes is a grey area and it is dicey. I opted out in my first job cause i knew i was not going to be with them for 6 months. In my present job, I've contributed and will continue to do so while planning for retirement.

It’s less “dicey” now with providers offering flexibility via online platforms and apps to track and manage your pension 24/7

Am a student with a dependent ( my husband) who just opt out of pension scheme because no one knows tomorrow. He has a permanent job.We never prayed for bad thing to happen.Pls my question is it possible to opt in again once we settled properly?
@oseofmat
@oseofmat 27 күн бұрын
The company he opted put of might not allow him join the pension scheme back. If he joins a new company, he can choose to contribute there especially if it's a permanent job.

Pension is not designed for students or those who are young and plan on leaving the uk very soon. Pension is mainly or was formed for those that have a permanent job that he or she will be with till retirement. As a student, u should not be on pension. However for you daniel, i wont advice you to opt out. U plan on remaining in uk probably till retirement. After retirement u go back to naija and u will be earning in pounds.

This is probably one of the worst opinions out there! You can literally start contributing to pension from age 16, student or not

Well, some people opt out within 2 years to get reimbursement from their pension contributions to sort out their needs and join back afterwards. After 2 years you can't get reimbursed till retirement.
