After some initial inconclusive results, I've decided to give Optiglanz another go, and compare results with Harpic PowerPlus Max 10 acidic bleach

That's a nice review. I'm surprised there aren't more comments ! You've got a very relaxed and informative style. Thank you.

Thanks for the kind comment! This was a follow up to an earlier video where I was disappointed with Optiglanz (especially at £16 a bottle!). Time has passed, the pipes are oxidized again, to I'll be following on with another video, but using a brush to apply the Harpic, as Steve Wade suggests.

Hi, just some advice if I may??? Firstly, please put on some gloves, it's scary!! Secondly, I have been using Harpic for years now. Best way to use it is to squeeze some into a pot and use an paint brush to thinly paint it on and agitate. It a) uses a fraction of what you have used here b) gives you more control so you don't spray it over bolts and painted surfaces and c) gives a much better result. You can buy a pack of cheap "throw away" brushes for a couple of quid down at Home Bargains or somewhere like that. Harpic is great stuff. All of my team at work have been converted to using it on their bikes (I work on a motorcycle fleet) but get that paint brush out and wear some protection!!

It really doesn't spray everywhere, and the solution is watered down. You get way, way, WAY less overspray than with Optiglanz. The point here, was to give a fair comparison to Optiglanz spray, hence making a sprayable solution. The pipes are ready for another clean, and I have some Optiglanz left. So l'll do a follow up video using a brush :)

Perhaps a local equivalent? Look for a bleach which claims superior limescale removal properties. The ingredients/warning label should indicate it's acid based (it may also say not to mix with normal bleach). Failing that, you can also use patio cleaner, which is also just a strong acid. Basically, it's just a convenient way of applying strong acid. The acid eats rust/oxidization, and leave behind virgin metal. Good for cleaning up old bolts, brackets and other components too!

next time use a paintbrush instead to avoid overspray and damage other parts.

You get worse overspray with Optiglanz. It goes everywhere! +1 for Harpic!
