@jumpdashslashblock5345Ай бұрын
Yes. You are absolutely correct. I was being hyperbolic when I stated that. At the time I thought it was harmless and innocuous. I also hoped that my later statement that "as long as it's comfortable for you, it's a good bind" would sweep that comment under the rug (as well as the viewer's common sense). Though, it's actually one of the only few things that has made me consider redoing the video (or at least reuploading it with that edited out). Then again, I also feel like if it gets people to change from the default binds, then I'd rather people do so based upon misinformation. (That's a bit selfish, and probably not a good excuse. I should be able to convey and convince solely with correct information...) I appreciate the criticism, and I'm glad that someone has called that blatant falsehood out. It's good when the community keeps you in check. So thank you. Maybe, if I ever decide to come back to gunz I will reedit, but for now I just will have to live with the imperfection and hope that those who use my videos for guidance keep doing so with a healthy dose of skepticism. So, thank you for the call out. I do apologize for that one statement with no disagreements with your take.

Bro this was a great video, I came back to find recently since late 2000s and with my new smarter not harder mindset I came up w some of these organically. Curious if doubling up on movement commands might do anything useful and practical. Also just not playing wasd and maybe position at rsdfg
@jumpdashslashblock534510 ай бұрын
Thank you! RE: Doubling up on movement commands - This is very unconventional, but I do know there have been several players that have decided to do this because it makes dashing a fluid "rolling" motion with the fingers. I also have the notion that it unnecessarily adds more physical buttons to press, but it's not like adding an additional binding prevents one from using the 1st binding for traditional dashing input vs. rolling dashing input. RE: wasd vs. rsdfg - I think this is just preference. The "s" would effectively serve the same purpose as Shift. "E" and "T" would serve the same purpose as "Q" and "E". I don't really think it's significantly all that difference. Overall, keybinds should follow: 1. The best keybind is the one that makes you comfortable. 2. Allocation of as many finger digits as possible. 3. Reduce unnecessary stretching. 4. Close physical proximity of inputs. 1&3 are most important as keybinds are meant to make things physically more comfortable, and 2&4 assist in doing that. As long as your binds generally follow those guidelines its really up to you what you want to do. HOWEVER: I ultimate believe that if you do decide to rebind anything, it should be reload to middle mouse button and M4/M5, and sword on scroll down/up.
@sebtc4607 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the vid, super helpful as a new player Question about Reload Shot with these binds. Does it matter if you pull out your sword between the 2 shots? I am having some trouble clicking the scroll wheel(to reload) without scrolling and switching to sword while doing so. It seems the speed is still there even if I pull out the sword by accident but not sure if this is a bad habit.
@nugget7323 Жыл бұрын
You don't want to swap to your sword after the first shot, only after the second. (Starting on gun 1) Shoot > Reload > Gun2 > Shoot > Reload+Sword > Gun1... (Repeat). I too, have trouble pressing the scroll button without swapping to sword which is why I also bind Reload to my M4 side button if I just want to RS. Does that answer your question? Is there anything else I might be able to help with?

You got it! Some people say that it does affect aiming if you're too tough on the scroll wheel for sword/weapon, but this is why playing relaxed and having good muscle memory for moves is important. Never use more energy than necessary, never do harder work when you can do more efficiently.

Thank you for watching, I'm glad that it's helped you! Sword being on 1 is just because you have an additional key you can bind it to, so you might as well be using it. Generally though, you'll pretty much access sword only by scroll wheel once you're accustomed to it. Your secondary keybind isn't nearly as important as the primary bind you will be using for any action. That's why if there's any advice you should be mindful of is that RELOAD and SWORD should be very easily accessible. Whether that be on the middle mouse button, scroll wheel, or m4/m5 button. You want to make sure that you can comfortably access the bind.

old video i know, but generally it just sucks because ive gotten so so used to using the basic keybinds so now it feels impossible to use others. I can perfectly fluidly use 1 2 for sword / weapon 1 respectively and got everything else down. My problem is with weapon 2 on 3, i CAN do it but sometimes I whiff causing me to either die or lose out on a potential kill. My problem is my finger placement but it just feels like muscle memory I can't break. I can't use scroll wheel because it feels extremely awkward in general due to me using RMB for reload (ik i never see people use it, but it just feels so much more fluid to RS) and M4 for flip. I use ring finger for A so it kindof just feels awkward to move left while fighting using 3. Is there any potential way to break these memories or at least find an alternative to 3? E seems weird as well to me, and I've been experimenting on a ton of other keys but they all feel clunky. I suppose playing more often with a different keybind will help but man if only i can successfully get down using wep 2, it would be a godsend and would immensely help improvement.
@jumpdashslashblock53453 жыл бұрын
As the saying goes: "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Trying to relearn new muscle memory to overwrite previous muscle memory is much harder than learning it from the beginning. I know it's easy for me to say, but I do so much heavily encourage good keybinds that I do feel like even for you, it's worth starting from scratch and relearning. It will suck, it will be frustrating, it will be boring to learn - but I think it's so much worth it. Either way, the most important is that your hands don't get hurt or fatigue quickly. As for weapons, E is definitely my preferred key for at least one of your guns. I also think that Capslock for the other gun is great as well. Both E and capslock are always assessable no matter what direction you're moving/dashing. And no unnecessary stretching.

Why 2 buttons for reload?
@jumpdashslashblock53458 ай бұрын
Good question! Please bear with me as this response might be a bit lengthy. There are 2 buttons for reload, primarily because of comfort of usage during different actions: Reload on Mouse Wheel Button is typically for any time you want to switch to sword after a shot. Typically this is for more advanced moves/techniques such as Late Dash (LD), Late Dash Gear Tap (LDGT), Double Halfstep (DHS), and the infamous Grounded Double Halfstep (GDHS). Although, having Reload with Mouse Wheel Button greatly helps with chaining more fundamental movements: RHS, RHHS, RS. Why? Since we put Sword on Scroll Wheel Down we can effectively Reload+Switch to Sword in one motion. We just click down on the middle mouse button as we scroll down. In many instances, players find it very hard NOT to switch to sword as you depress the middle mouse button when using these keybinds. "So why do we have Reload also on Mouse Button 4?": Simply, because it's easier when just doing repeated Reload Shots (RS). As stated above, having reload on middle mouse button also means it's difficult to NOT switch to sword as well. This obviously isn't good when we're trying to RS. So for purely comfort, we use M4 for when we want to repeatedly RS and general reloading. You don't HAVE to bind Reload to M4. It is entirely possible to train your muscle memory to have the light touch and just purely use Middle Mouse Button. I just find it easier and more comfortable using M4 when I RS. If, however, there is one button you decide to bind your Reload to, I heavily encourage you to (I almost deem it necessary) put it on mouse wheel button. This also means you should have at least 1 of your sword keybinds to be Scroll Wheel Down (or scroll wheel up, whichever you prefer). If you're new to GunZ or trying to polish off the rust these two bindings (Reload on Mouse wheel button and Sword on Scroll Wheel Down) may not seem like such a big deal, but it's truly one of the few "optimal" bindings. I hope that answers your question. If you have any other thoughts, comments, questions, or concerns; please don't hesitate to comment. Good luck. Have Fun!

You may train all of your fingers to be dexterous (any musician will tell you that), but it's - as I quote: "typically the least dexterous digit..." That is to say, the pinky, is naturally the least dexterous of your hands to do tasks requiring specific fine motor control. Most things that are difficult can be circumvented with diligent, consistent, and prolonged practice though the advice given is to instead work with pinky, relegate it less used input (flip). You'll still need to practice, but that's a truism.

Hmm, most mechanical keyboards with NKRO should be suitable for GunZ. If you've taken a long time away from gunz and trying to get back then the unfortunate news is that you'll need to start back and practice fundamental movement and game mechanics. This might seem disheartening, but it's not! Remember that it's not that you don't know it, it's just that you're practicing to remember. Additionally, players have gotten much much better since 12 years ago. I wish you the best in continuing your GunZ journey. Remember that FUN is the most important thing. That is understandable. Typically, mouses now are more robust and better quality. However, what is most important for a good keybinding is: 1. Good distribution of inputs on left and right hands. 2. Easy to access binds (you do not want to have far away binds because that can lead to overextention of your fingers and wrist which is bad for hand health. 3. Most frequent inputs are easier to access than lesser used ones.

Tried a few different ways but I was never able to go super fast. I can do some of the harder moves like DHS or repeated wall late dash thing but it feels too hard to consistently perform to be very useful in battle. It seems to depend a lot on what mouse, I can't do the middle mouse reload with 2 popular mouse, the razer deathadder or original rog gladius, but I can do it with the old microsoft laser mouses ( grey one ), I also can't do TBF with those mouses but I can with the old mouse, it has a low non adjustable DPI though and a low polling rate unless you do some hack thing which hasn't been working when I tried it in recent years. I sort of figured that the top gunz players use a secret special key bindings and hardware that they keep a secret between themselves.

@jumpdashslashblock53455 жыл бұрын
It is surprising how many people still use a rather bad configuration. Most of them are significantly better than I am, but when I ask why they do not change it is usually: "Because I am used to what I have now." Which, I understand as a valid reason despite that new keybindings can be picked up relatively quickly. The issue I have is the fact that non-optimal keybindings are a risk of hand, joint, tendon, and tissue health. For that reason, I think dismissing a better keybinding scheme is immature, reckless, and just plain stupid. No game should take priority of your health.

@@2saintfn184 It is not mechanically faster (as in it has no frame advantage compared to any other keypress), however it is ergonomically superior and is physically more efficient/easier and thus it will overall speed your movements. As for you trouble with muscle memory: the only way to remedy this is practice and to rebuild your muscle memory. It is more difficult than just learning it as a beginner because you first have to undue your previous muscle memory first so it is another step in learning these particular keybindings. The question that many people ask is "why should I learn it now, even though I have learn another key config. already?" and my answer to this comes in two parts: 1. Do you want to be as efficient at playing GunZ as you possibly can be? 2. Does your physical hand health matter much to you? These two points are very easy to dismiss (and many GunZ veterans do). For 1, you may say that you are doing just well without optimal keybinds which is fair enough, but the philosophy of partitioning keypresses evenly to both hands (within reason) is going to be more optimal for ergonomic and physical efficiency reasons. It must also be said that if you are very serious about GunZ then the only downside of relearning the keybinds is exactly that - you have to relearn. The hassle is worth it in the end, you just have to bite the bullet and put in the work again. For 2, many will say that GunZ has had no negative effects on their hands, but the fact is that most are not old enough to feel the effects of extremely repetitive and taxing keypresses. Additionally, as a person who already has arthritis - the default keybindings caused me serious pain, while the optimal one significantly less so. I will stand by my word and say that NO GAME SHOULD EVER BE SO IMPORTANT AS TO COMPROMISE YOUR PHYSICAL HEALTH. And in long term hand health, GunZ is a huge risk without proper hand care (which 99% of players will not diligently ultilize). An ounce of prevention is worth more than a ton of cure. All in all, I say this and I say this because GunZ players need to hear this the most: Put your ego aside and learn good/efficient gameplay. If not for being the best you can be - then for your actual physical health.
