Optimal Lightning Death Knight Build | Elden Ring DLC | Dragon Cult PvP

Hey Guys! IMPORTANT NOTE: As of patch 1.13, the first spear of knight's lightning spear no longer true combos into the second set of smaller spears. Some notes on the build in case you wanted to try other variations of it: Stats at 00:32 This Faith Variation of the Dragon Cult lightning build is the one I think is most optimal for high burst in invasions while maintaining decent defense & utility from faith. Consider these other two options depending on your playtstyle: 1. Strength version: Go 54 Strength, and lower your faith if you want to be more melee focused. Use the Winged sword insignia, Millicent's prosthesis, and Shard of Alexander to pump up the damage of your death knight twin axes ash of war. The multi-hit damage will be crazy! This version of the build will have much less burst damage from incants, but your melee swings will hit harder. 2. Glass Cannon version: Go 80 Faith and use the Priestess Heart to Transform into the Dragon priestess. This gives you 20% increase Dragon cult damage instead of the 8% from the Death Knight set. The downside is you have to be naked to do this you will have no poise and very little defense. Since you're a glass cannon anyway, you can equip the Beloved Stardust talisman to maximize your cast speed without needing azur's staff or any dexterity investment. Add the Lightning Scorpion Charm to fully maximize damage. This build will ACTUALLY one shot anyone in the game, but you will die instantly in return. Use this at your own caution.

I'm actually a high level. I currently have 60 vigor, 35 mind, 40 endurance, 40 strength, 40 dexterity, 80 intelligence, 86 faith, 20 arcane. Should I go full strength, dex and faith rather than faith and intelligence?

With the added intelligence I'm able to use sorceries that I feel are tied to Death Knight. Stuff like impenetrable thorns, ancient death rancor and vortex of putrescence.

This is most likely the best DLC build I have seen so far! Because it is not BROKEN. Most of videos around nowadays, of course they are interesting and entertaining but also they are OP AF. Personally I don't like using anything broken like dueling shields, swift slashes, one shot perfume bottles etc.. This build looks so fun! Awesome plays, awesome fights mate.

the lightning spear is so good! If you like, check out my video beating all bosses with this build, a couple of them just die in seconds to the lightning spears. The more aggro ones I had to use my weapons though

Upon stumbling into a Deathknight on my first dlc Catacomb, I was captivated, like I just discovered fire… I beelined to the catacomb with the set and axe before anything else. The priestess heart dragon transformation item gives you a buff to dragon cult incantations if you wanna switch up the armor. Also for NG+ playthroughs doing the alternate ending to the dragon priestess quest gives you a summon that debuffs enemies to lightning damage. Thought these both could be worthy additions to this build.

Just fyi, there's no reason to use Black Flame Protection anymore because it got nerfed in PvP to 15% physical dmg reduction, while still reducing your healing by 20% and it has an fp cost. Boiled Crab is also 15% physical dmg reduction in PvP, and it doesn't reduce your healing or cost fp to use. It does last 10 seconds less.

Maybe put lightning armament on them with this build for big lightning damage ⚡ I haven't used spears at all since the DLC, but I've seen they got nerfed so unsure if they're still good

Hey! check out the pinned comment for additional stat setups. Most Meta level PvP builds just go 60 vigor and 60 in your main damage stat. The rest of the stats are just the minimum requirements to wield the death knight weapons and the remainder gets dumped into endurance. Hope this helps!

No, if you're staying at meta level it's either all faith or mainly dex and a bit of faith for buff, you won't be doing that kind of incant damage unless you focus on faith at meta levels

At level 125-150, no way. Not unless you want to be squishy AF. Just go 60 faith and use electrify armament or lightning grease if you want the lightning weapon effect. Or if you don't want to use incants, then go 60-80 dex

That's electroshock, I didn't mention it much in the video because I didn't pick it up until halfway through my play session and it seemed kind of disappointing 😕 it replaces black flame protection/barrier of gold which makes you much squishier and only pulses for like 60 damage

Don't panic roll with they use the first blinkbolt part, it doesn't inflict much damage or hitstun - you can even just attack into them and win the trade. To dodge the second spin portion of the skill, roll right through them. If you roll away, it's going to catch you and combo.

@@VonSchnitz To add on that, I actually found a good counter. I would roll into the spin and immediately cast carina slicer to deceive them into rolling. Then I switch to carina piercer and cast it after rolling, it’s almost a guaranteed roll catch if they rolled right after spinning

I changed it up as I went, but the most important ones are lightning spear, knight's lightning spear, fortissax's lightning spear, ancient dragon lightning strike, whatever buffs you like (I keep around golden vow, black flame protection, and barrier of gold), and a heal spell like heal from afar or erdtree heal.

I don't think it's as valuable as the other incants. Feel free to use it if you like it though. It does high damage, but in very short range and without any hyper armor so in most circumstances you're not getting the cast off and in scenarios where you do get the cast off, you probably could've gotten a different cast off even easier.

They're okay in conjuntion with talismans which buff consecutive attacks but I'd say the non skill attacks are pretty mid. They're slow and have terrible range. They can chain decently together, but combos are nowhere near as good as other weapon types. For damage and range you'll end up abusing the skill, the longshaft axe is a better option if you don't want to get hit all the time without at least trading a hit in return. The skill is slower though, and obviously won't benefit as much from consecutive hit talismans. Would be best to focus on incantations while using it

I'm a noob at PVP but isn't the poise a little low? from what I've seen most builds use a breakcap of 50ish is there a reason this is lower? Again, I'm new to PVP so asking incase theres something I've missed haha

Yeah usually u go for above 51 poise. But I guess he wanted the full death knight cosplay so he used the full armour set. If he wanted more poise he could swap out a piece for a higher poise piece.

@@kurtcobane1762 yep just wanted to stick with the theme. Also, poise seems less useful now, generally speaking. Many poise breakpoints were just adjusted in the last patch so waiting to see how that settles and gets readjusted. More fun to use offensive talismans meanwhile rather than equip load and bullgoat talismans.

@@kurtcobane1762 it'll be a small disadvantage against certain weapons only. Most weapons automatically break poise on the first hit. Some light weapons like rapiers or claws can be poised on the first hit if you stack enough. The notable poise breakpoint is 88 to tank the second hit of things like katanas, curved swords, straight swords, etc. if you play with less than this, all you have to do is not mash out of hitstun vs these weapons and understand that you need to roll away if they hit you first. That's all
