We are continuing on with our cataract surgery series! Stay tuned for next week's video about the unexpected benefits of cataract surgery ❤

More great information I had to learn through experience. I wish your videos had been available before my first surgery. Your cataract video play list should be required watching before a patient has IOL surgery. In the long run it would be better for both patients and the field of ophthalmology to have better informed patients.

@@MicheleLeeMD My 2nd doctor mentioned "cleaning the capsular bag" during surgery, but I didn't think to ask what that meant. Have not found that via google (likely it's I don't know the correct terms to search) Have not seen that in your videos. Did I mis-hear? Does it eliminate/delay YAG capsulotomy later? The slit lamp image from the eye he did is very clear, the other has cells intruding from the equator. Maybe something for your next Q&A. Thank you.
@MicheleLeeMD2 жыл бұрын
@@tsbrownie It sounds like they were polishing the bag before putting in the lens. It does not eliminate the need for a Yag capsulotomy but it may decrease the chance you will need the laser procedure.

@@MicheleLeeMD Thank you. I feel guilty bothering you, but I have to wonder what other (minor) procedures are available that are not commonly discussed or that are performed optionally. Maybe a Q&A thing. I don't want to waste your time answering questions for just 1 person.

Going to my eye doc today for final pre-op with dialation. My previous visit was a bunch of measurements on different machines. After watching hundreds of cataract videos I hope I'm a candidate for Clareon Vivity and maybe even slight blended vision.

Do you have any advice for someone who has a dense cataract? I am getting my eye measured in a couple of days.
@MicheleLeeMD2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! It depends how dense - if your cataract is so dense that lens measurements are difficult, you want to make sure your eye surgeon has the equipment needed to make those lens calculations. Otherwise, I would discuss your situation with your surgeon and make sure you understand any additional risks from your surgery. Best of luck ❤️

Is it possible to remove near number of eyes after catarct surgery?😢
@MicheleLeeMD2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. If I understand it correctly, you are asking if refractive error can be corrected? The short answer is that it depends, but most of the time yes - we can. I would discuss this with your eye surgeon. Best of luck ❤

Another very informative video full of valuable information. You make some very complex eye conditions so much easier to understand. In a future video could you address how pseudoexfoliation syndrome may affect cataract surgery and if it might it be prudent to maybe consider having a minimally invasive laser glaucoma surgery done at the same time as cataract surgery if you have a strong family history of glaucoma but your intraocular pressure is still normal.

Hello! I have a question. Some years ago I broke my orbital floor under my eye. I had surgery but that didn’t change that I still see a little double, only when I move my eyes all the way up. Is this important to mention to my eye surgeon? I will get a mono lens in one week! Thanks!!

Hi Dr. Michele Lee, Q1) How good or much better is an Advanced Monofocal Lens (Aspheric lens) compared to a Standard Monofocal Lens?? Q2) Why CAN'T a PCO(Posterior Capsule Opacification) BE PREVENTED after a cataract operation???🤔🤔
@MicheleLeeMD2 жыл бұрын
1) Aspheric lenses can be a good option depending on the shape of your cornea and previous eye issues/surgery, but it is not universally the best option for everone. Talk to your eye doctors to see which type of lens may be best for you. 2) PCO can be prevented by doing a posterior capsulotomy during surgery (by creating a hole in the bag that holds the lens - they actually do these in kids with cataracts since little kiddos will not be able to stay still for a laser procedure) but it's actually a bit risky and much less risky to need to do a quick laser procedure after surgery.

Are any risks to have cataracts surgeries if people with siccs syndrome having severe dry eyes?

How do we know if we have dry eyes? It could be that we are so used to how our eyes feel, we don't realize we have dry eyes. Is it safe to use dry eye drops regardless to be on the safe side?
@MicheleLeeMD2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Most people with dry eyes have symptoms like grittiness or irritation. Sometimes you can have dry eyes with no pain, just intermittently blurry vision. If you aren't sure you can ask your eye doctor. Hope that helps :)

I have dry eye. When I asked my local surgeon if I need to address my dry eye before surgery, he shook his head and said “No, and your eyes aren’t that dry anyway.” Should I be concerned about this? I’m not scheduled for surgery yet.
@MicheleLeeMD2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. It really depends on how dry your eyes are. If they are very dry, you should probably address this before your surgery (and especially before your lens measurements). Hope that addresses your concerns!
