Hello! I LOVE learning from these webinars. Question, I want to use items such as green tea matcha with high oxidation reactions. Is there a way to prevent or delay oxidation in products - preventing or delaying the onset of browning. I love how Matcha green tea has a vibrant green color, but when water/oil is introduced even when it is preserved it takes on an ugly brown color. Plus, it adds so many great benefits to a skin care line. Thanks!!

I hope you don't mind I answer this because I like using green tea in my formulations. Unfortunately browning is what leaves do. That's their natural course in life. Preservatives control bacteria, mold, and fungi but it won't prevent decomposition. You can slow it down by limiting light (dark room) and heat (freezing) and perhaps antioxidants and a vacuum sealed container but it will eventually degrade once you break the seal. You can use green matcha tea on skin but it will have to be freshly made everytime. You can probably add a natural colorant to mimic the green of matcha tea if you're really after the color. Or switch to using green tea extract which lasts longer than tea.
