I also loved that on Talks Machina. Sam said that he did not like most of the fanart drawings. They made Nott look way to cute, pretty & cool. He liked the ones that depicted her as hideous & broken down

Can I just say that I hard vouch for Goblin wizards being amazing. I played a Dex Abjuration Goblin Wizard and my AC was like 17, I could use greater invisibility or use my bonus action to hide in order to get advantage on my scorching rays, and my ward was able to play a great supporting role for the team (it automatically went up every day because mage armor is a practical auto-cast on this build). Also, getting Fury of the small was an excellent damage boost for me, because scorching ray as a primary attacking option was great, but it was nice to be able to really pump that extra damage in. With pretty high CON too, the character had the potential to be very bulky, and Shield and Absorb Elements allowed me to rack up that ward's temp HP through my turns. Also, getting proficiency added to your Dispel Magic and Counterspell is actually amazing. like on average you'd be counterspelling 9th level spells without wasting a slot for it. Most slept on subclass I've ever seen.

i also realy like for arcane trickster and eldritch knight that you get ritual casting with wizard levels - so you can get some utiltiy rituals that dont eat into your fewer spell slots, and the wizard has a lot of rituals even at spell level 1, that you dont need to prepare as long you want to only ritual cast them.

Just to say Sam didn't pick Goblin, or even rogue. In all 3 campaigns Liam has told Sam race and class for his character. And apparently that does include robot for C3.

While I’ll acknowledge that this may have been a good direction to take her, I feel it cribs too closely into Caleb’s Niche, especially suggesting she both take Find Familiar and multiclass into Transmutation wizard. It might make sense, but you don’t want to step on one another’s roles in a party.
@cmccbuilds82292 жыл бұрын
An arcane trickster with 6 levels of wizard isn’t stepping on the toes of a 16th level wizard. They’re in different leagues in terms of spell casting, play style, and roles. Wait until you see Caleb ;)

Very unlikely I’ll do any non-fantasy builds although I have a Mongol Archer build so who knows. Time is the major issue.

I would love to see the math on whether Sharpshooter really is the best choice at rogue 8. As you point out, it is vital for the sneak attack damage to land every turn so that -5 penalty is devastating, even with a BA attack. My prediction is that the bump to dpr won’t be particularly great compared to not taking it. Would love to see the math!
@Fireswiper2 жыл бұрын
Again, the dpr bump on piercer feels very minor for the cost of the feat.
@cmccbuilds82292 жыл бұрын
Sharpshooter is more important because of the range and cover clauses on a build like this. Don’t forget piercer is a half feat. It’s not crusher, but it’s still pretty good. Your options are basically piercer, skill expert, or squat nimbleness. Piercer is def the pick for me.

Sorry to kind of necro post this but, I was just wondering since you are using Tasha's did you consider Bladesinger? Tasha removed the restriction and would sure up two of rogues weaknesses that being Extra attack (Not to mention could use a cantrip instead if the first hand crossbow sneak attack hits for a higher damage) and AC from Bladesong which would give an extra 3 AC/Con Saves, +10 Movement, and advantage on Acrobatics for those pesky grapple checks. Only con I see here is the loss of the transmuter's stone for the Darkvision (Halfling problem)/Constitution save proficiency which would hurt but at the same time if the character is getting hit less then concentration checks might become less of an issue (Could also swap the Resilient Wisdom to Con if needed). At high level play the only issue I can see is Song of Defense and if it would be worth it over something like Reliable talent or just a quick 2 dip over to fighter for Action Surge. I'm sure flavor wise a Veth that keeps shooting with her hand crossbow and tossing a Fire Bolt would go to show her weaving her own past skills with the skills she picked up for Caleb. Just a thought though I would be interested to hear an opinion on this.
@cmccbuilds82292 жыл бұрын
Since Caleb was teaching Nott, I’m not sure how’d you make bladesinger work from a narrative standpoint. It does make for an interesting build.

The problem with your count of Feather Fall (15 times) is that quite a few of those times happened before she can conciveably take it with your progression. Since you recomend not takeing it as the arcane trickster pick at level 3. But as a wizard level pick which happens here at level 11 the earliest.

Continuing as I did a few days ago... Don't really have much to really critique about this one aside from your distaste for Reliable Talent. Though I do understand your maths and pointing out how different DC's can change things. I personally think that the sheer... Well, reliability of reliable talent is useful. a 20 dex rogue with expertise in stealth basically having a flat 27 minimum to stealth checks basically makes sure that short of designing an encounter specifically to screw Nott over by forcing her to reveal her position (or throwing an enemy that has a perception score similarly ludicrous to her own) is extremely useful on any rogue. And of course that's ignoring the fact that there can be OTHER skills that rogues have expertise in, or even non-expertise'd proficiencies that just generally become a lot more consistent, and... pardon me overusing this word. RELIABLE. Though this comes from my perspective of someone who doesn't trust his dice to work when it really matters.

the cool thing about tabletop games is that they technically didn't, if your dm is ok with it, you can still use volo's version, or maybe you could negotiate with your DM to make pack tactics a racial feat like elven accuracy
