"it is so invalidating to be told nothing is wrong with you when you know there's something wrong with you" Indeed!

Great video! I was sick for years before someone thought to check the Frees… as well as thyroid antibodies. And I too - was told to see a psychiatrist that there was nothing wrong with me. While I now have a good doctor and treatment - too many women are told they are crazy or just getting older…you have helped a lot of women with this video. Hopefully other doctors will get up to speed!

Excellent explanation of how the thyroid works and how to know when it isn't. I read my last labs and I only get a T4. I will have my doctor do the full workup on my next physical. The weeds are so thick when it comes to figuring out what is causing all these old age symptoms. You do really help me to understand that I can be more proactive in my own understanding and advocacy to work out some of these kinks to feel better as I age. Many thanks.

I wish you were my doctor! I recently listened to a talk from a fairly well known doctor who made this statement: "In medical school, we are trained to treat patients with surgical methods or pharmacological methods. Two avenues. That seems to be correct. I am a 75 year old male and recently diagnosed with afib and hypothyroidism. Oddly, I just has a "complete" physical two months prior. Afib was detected by me using a KardiaMobile home EKG device. I have no symptoms. My PCP referred me to a cardiologist who verified afib with a 12 lead EKG. He asked me how long I've had it. My initial reaction was a bit of anger, but quickly became an incredulous. I politely answered who knows? I have a "complete" physical each year and I discovered it with a $100 home tester. As far as hypothyroidism, I was given a perscription for levothyroxine. Diagnosis was based on elevated a high TSH value from a blood test. I was never asked about my iodine intake. Since I am vegan and avoid salt, seems like a factor. Great channel, great work. Thank you.

Amazing video. I appreciate providing next steps and testing required to get answers and move forward. Healthy parameter discussion vs acceptable norms very empowering. Love the conversation about lab interpretation.

Stay tuned for part 2 today... I go over the numbers to look for when interpreting lab results.

Such valuable information! Thank you, Dr Susan. I have a question about HRT and thyroid binding globulin. Can both oral and transdermal delivery routes of estradiol increase the thyroid binding globulin? I read this only happens with oral where the hormone goes through the liver. Can you confirm this? And what about oral micronized progesterone - can it raise the thyroid binding globulin?

I am curious; what area of health care are you qualified in?

Thyroid care is woefully inadequate! I have no thyroid left and have had to do all my own homework and am trying T3-only protocol. I still have all the symptoms.

Wow.. a couple comments really stuck out, walking through quicksand.. I've felt like that basically my whole life. Never really heard it mentioned before. Also the outer 1/3 of your eyebrows.. so weird, I looked in mirror right away and confirmed, lol

Is it safe to use testosterone pellets and take Armour or thyroid dessicated products together in terms of moderate risk of clots?
@drsusan2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely safe to use both products and there is no increased risk of blood clotting with either subdermal testosterone or thyroid products.

my tsh has been 2.5 for such a long time because doctors keep telling me that that the ideal was 1 or at least les than 2😢 I’m losing so much hair and algo not really resting 😢 the reason I’m not in a worse situación y guess is because I fast and I also follow a good diet that helps like avoiding gluten , fast foods, soy etccc…… 😊 thank you very much doctor ❤ any suggestion for medication ? 😊

Question was on NO Thyroid 15mg and now Armour thyroid 15mg. Ever time I take either of them my ears start ringing and I have an ear pain that comes along also. Is this the medication or is it my thyroid causing this? Thanks!

It makes me angry that doctors’ knowledge can be so out of date. Even Realtors have to have continuing education, shouldn’t doctors?
@WalkingOneLegAtATimeКүн бұрын
The problem is the education is for pills and surgery, not nutrition or wellness
