I've got the Axe 2300KV in my Capra and love it. I have 0 complaints. I don't understand why so many people hate it!
@ExocagedRC4 жыл бұрын
The axe almost drives itself, and I was kinda missing the feel of the brushed setup on this drive. Some say it is a cheater setup.

Wow the new heart in Optimus looks like an upgrade worth looking into. Great comparison EXO!!!
@danielkonrad14444 жыл бұрын
Well finally! I knew it needed it. The advantage of the axe is, when you go ultra slow, you can maintain that slow speed. A brushed system needs more input und when it overcomes the stall if you will, it jumps over. Hope that makes sense. I like both things. Brushed and brushless.
@ExocagedRC4 жыл бұрын
yeah I know exactly what you're talking about. I like the Axe but this may go back to brushed as soon as I can get the Holmes Magnum, I have yet to try that motor but it is a mega beast brushed motor.
@jasonengland23574 жыл бұрын
Daniel Konrad don’t forget the awesome hill hold that no brushed system can compete with. I have two AXE systems and would never go back to brushed motors.

The old hobbywing vs Castle ...i know I agree with you. I own 3 castle sytems,. When I bought my First axe system I loved it so much I went out and bought a second the next day.. but you just have haters out there that are either team castle or team hobbywing. I don't care who makes them I enjoy the technology as it comes out

philip bender yep. I’ve tried all the OLD TECH Holmes stuff. I finally got the Axe after trying “all the rest.” I couldn’t be happier with the ABSOLUTE control I have. For reference, I was a professional pilot so I kinda feel that I have more to compare to than a fucking car or forklift.
@WIDGET7384 жыл бұрын
And you owe it to yourself to spend HOURS tuning the Axe software. Also firmware 2.02 is the better ‘feel’ over the brute force 2.03 firmware.
@PhilBender6124 жыл бұрын
@@WIDGET738 yes. I have all the current firmware updates on my Axe systems and I frequently tune and retune them and I love the convenience of just a Bluetooth connection rather than with my castle mambas I have to plug in a Bluetooth connection and then connect if I want to tune.... another words that's annoying.. also Castle charged me $50 for the Bluetooth Castle link.
@WIDGET7384 жыл бұрын
philip bender, try REVERTING back to firmware 2.02. It is MUCH more tunable. 2.03 makes it so the RPM MATCHING setting doesn’t make a difference. It is not even close to the sensitivity of firmware 2.02 even though Hobbywing states “2.03 makes your Axe better” lol. Whatever...

I got used to not being able to feel the truck and it’s not that you can’t feel it. It’s just that it has a different feel to it. After really getting a feel for my capra with the 550 axe it’s my favorite rig. The dig is awsome I just installed it yesterday iv been running it since October without dig

I'm intrigued by the AXE System especially the 550-can but I'm not sure it's torquay enough to break a well built rig like yours. I mean...all-out torque is the AXE motor downfall because the magnets/rotor have "too much" twist/overlap drastically effecting torque negatively . Agree with you on slow speed crawl...you only need it to be "so slow" before it becomes "just for show". Speed is just as important especially on dirt trails. I'd definitely love to see a AXE 3300 550 compared to a 3500 540-can Puller Pro/Mamba X combo.
@ExocagedRC4 жыл бұрын
The Axe 550 motors are legit strong and the axe esc has amazing control, but the 3500kv Puller Pro can be a much wilder setup and for anything like a bouncer or monster truck or trail basher truck I'd go with the Holmes without a doubt, plus that Mamba esc can do both crawl and trail with the AUX wire so that would be perfect IMO
@jasonengland23574 жыл бұрын
Tom Lucas I run the 550 3300kv in my 12lb Gen 8 with a 20 tooth pinion and it’s perfect. Their motor has all the torque you could need and then wheel speed to go with it.

I didn‘t try hobbywing yet, I just love castle for their aux-wire to adjust drag brake on the fly. When I am not on the rocks but on easy trails I like to be able to turn it off without having to go into a phone app. Or is there a quick way of adjusting the brake settings while driving for hobbywing?
@ExocagedRC4 жыл бұрын
gotta use the app to adjust the settings and its only crawl modes, nothing like a race or bash mode.

If I may ask with this build I’m doing basically the same thing with the capra axles. I was wondering from what I view it looks like you’re not using a pan hard mouth and I’m just curious about your thoughts on that I plan on putting the servo on the axle myself and not too sure if this is needed. I dont want to buy unnecessary things from team garage hack. I will be going with the same rims as on your kit. I absolutely like your build that you have done and look forward to seeing how my build will compare to something like yours

For the money, would the Holmes set up with an upgraded motor (crawlmaster, pro) .... is the axe any better? I have both. Zero complaints on either system. I still appreciate being able to switch to any brand motor with the Holmes esc.
