I have the Optimus Crux stove which actually folds up to even be more compact that their Lite version. I've had it for almost 2 years and LOVE it! It works a lot better than my old Pocket Rocket and is a lot more compact. I'm not sure why it doesn't get more attention because it's a great stove.

The Optimus Crux HE WEEKENDER W/FOLDABLE CRUX STOVE is my ONLY Canister-style stove. I 💘 it and chose it for its FOLDABLE small footprint. I've collected many camping/backpacking stoves over decades, mostly Trangia kits and Wood Gasification stoves...so moving to a Canister-style stove was something I researched very well before I bought one. The Crux series of stoves just seemed to fit my needs over the others. I'm glad I made it my choice. It's a lovely 😍 piece of kit and functions extremely well as designed.

I have the Terra Week-End with an Heat Exchanger (HE), witch is a little bigger as the Solo. The HE is very effective and water boils mutch faster. I also use the foldable Crux. I LOVE it!

Nice review! I find with Teflon it cracks, peels after a time with too hot of a heat and or any little scrapes. When it does this you should throw it out. It is not healthy to have Teflon flakes in your food. I stop buying T-Fal & Teflon 15 years ago.

Thanks for the video it's professionally done. I would like to add : Swedish armed forces have issued this cookset to soldiers. You get the complete cookset with windshield and even alcohol burner from Trangia.

I am leaning toward this stove because the ‘arms’ of the stove allows you to use smaller diameter pots - unlike many other popular stoves in this category. This is often overlooked in the stove reviews.

I have a Crux lite stove without the solo pot.,and on first inspection, build quality seems good. However in practice, the flame control is hopeless and fiddly while trying to adjust to a slow simmer. I have two Chinese built stoves at a quarter of the price that have a far superior flame adjustment. Much of the capacity of the pot is wasted in that useless pan/lid, so I opted for the GSI minimalist solo pot instead. And no toxic Teflon there either.

May I ask, 4 years later, which burners are you refering to as the cheap chinese? Thanks.

@@DanskSloyd These were bought on E-bay, one was a Bulin. Since then I got the Soto Amicus to go with the GSI pot. , and that beats the Optimus hands down. And just as compact.

Great video Eugene. Question: if the entire fuel supply is not used during one setting can the canister be unscrewed from the stove? Will fuel spill/leak out? Canister can be reapplied for next session? Thanks. Yes, great advice at the end of video about being thankful and praising God for his blessings. Amen to that! Take care.

@@oldgregg9074 Absolutely. You can repeatedly screw and unscrew the stove from the gas canister with no problem. Just keep the stoves valve shut.

Depending on fuel, Climate and wind etc with the 110g I get about 15-20 boils. (1/2 litre at a time) I usually put my pan/lid on top with food in it to heat at the same time then just drop it on the flame when water is boiled for 20 seconds. I use it on nearly full gas all the time though. Conservatively I can get 20-30 boils. So the little 110g last me Friday to Sunday with ease. I usually take a full 110g gas can each trip (only $6 at my local shop) incase I run out (spare). I just leave it in my pack. I mean it weighs less then a single meal so why not ? Haha. I’ve ran out before and had to light a fire to cook and the pan while being good isn’t designed for contact with hot coals so I destroyed it 😂. in hind sight should have left a gap and made a “grill” to slow boil it. Live and learn I guess lol
