All that's missing from Optimus to be street legal are mudflaps in the back of the cab. Everything else is present & accounted for.

This is a mid-1984 to 1986 Freightliner FLT, or 1987 to 1988 FLA. The painted pillar between the windshield panes, the horizontal louvers in the small air intake grille over the radiator grille, the tall blank frame at the top of the radiator grille for the name badge, and the rectangular quad headlights are the telltale signs. The cabin sidewall here is short, with both vertical grab bars set really close together in a narrow pattern. So this is likely a 75 inch long cab. There are dual drive axles on the rear end. That makes it a 6x4 chassis, or "64". The fact that it is a tractor truck intended for a trailer makes it a "T" chassis, as well. The two vertical support bars in the radiator grille, the narrow mini-grille below the radiator grille, and the step box between the side doors and the flattop wheel arch mark this as a Series 71 cab. So all in all, this is probably a 1984.5-1986 FLT7564T or 1987-1988 FLA7564T, Series 71 sleeper cabover engine tractor truck. Externally, those would both look the same. --- However, the original G1 OP was a 1976-1979 FLT9664T Series 71 sleeper cabover engine tractor truck. (Remember that the G1 toy design was copyrighted in 1982, so it could not be based on a real world truck that appeared after 1982.) The headlights were a rounded quad setup. The side doors had angular squared corners in 1976-1977, and then from 1978-1979 there was an option to get them with rounded rear corners for occupant safety. From 1980 onward the doors were all made with rounded front and rear bottom corners. The G1 toy had squared corners on its doors, so it had to be based on a real truck from before 1980. And on the cabin sidewall, the original toy had two widespread vertical grab bars, with one right behind the side doors, and one right before the side Autobot logos. The two grab bars basically divided the cab side into thirds. This was the sign of a 96 inch long cab. But the often-quoted FLT8664T had a shorter cabin, which placed the rear grab bar nearly at the back of the cab. Neither the G1 toy nor this truck here have that.

@@texasbeast239, for an 80s Freightliner cabover, Optimus looks brand spanking new.
