I had the all-on-4 surgery done in Nov. 2021 and finally got my zirconium permanent teeth put in in August 2022, at IU Medical Dental School in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. I am 66 years old and my 2 biggest disappointments with my teeth are: anything I eat, food gets trapped between my fake gums and real ones. And when I say my “s” & “f” sound I whistle or my upper lip quivers. But for $24,000. Just for my teeth, nothing else, and from a dental school, my husband and I thought that was quite. a lot. Plus half of my lower lip is numb. Gratefully, Mrs. Debbie Feighner/Fort Wayne, IN 46825. 19:38 ❤😊

Im in the middle of a full upper arch dental implant bridge with 8 implants. Ive been in a temp upper arch denture since February. In the beginning I hated it and it was difficult to eat with. Currently Im so used to it there really isnt any meal I cant eat. I have my impants in now and waiting 4 months for them to set for arch to be put in and at this point Im in no rush. I may have been able to live with a denture for years without an issue.

I have extremely sensitive teeth, missing teeth and loose teeth. My teeth are not nice to look at, they are stained. I also have an over bite so my front teeth don't touch my lower teeth. Bad bite!!! I have decided to remove all my teeth some are healthy. Even if I did all the root canals, crowns and bridges my dentist suggested I would still be in pain because of the sensitivity and they would never be even a decent white color. Not to mention all the restorative cost. I was quoted $ 26,000 for upper and lower extractions, temp dentures implants and and then snap in once the implants heal. So when I went to my 2nd appt and said snap in implants are what I wanted he said I needed a 3D scan that I was informed was $3,200 due that day. So afraid of undisclosed cost, uggg. Why that high cost wasn't in my dental plan ??? I am watching several professionals including yourself and have decided on dentures. Did I waste $3,200 on a scan or do they do one for dentures?? Lastly I am 64 with a pacemaker/ defibrillator because of heart disease and I am scared my health could be compromised if I take a chance of the implants getting infected or just not my body not accepting them. Implants take so long to complete where dentures are less time and expense. I hear good and bad about dentures too, I hope I am making a good decision. Your input would be so appreciated!!! ThankYou Dr. Sehmi!!

I have saved. But I didn’t want to spend my entire future paying for dental implants. Medicare NEEDS A REP AT STATE LEVEL TO LOOK AT HOW MUCH SENIORS ARE PAYING . Thr 1959’s dentures are no solution!!! When dentures are a 90% frustration to all; we need to look at what we’re doing. Thank you I sent this to my parents of 86. Facing drntal moutains

Thanks for the information you give us. I have a question about mixing types of prosthesis. I heard a dentist suggest that if you want Zirconia teeth, you should only get it for the upper arch & get metal bar with acrylic prostheses for the lower arch, because the lower maxillary is suspended and supported by muscles, more so than the upper maxillary, therefore, the zirconia structure will be too heavy for the mandible. Is there any truth to this? My concern is that I want Zirconia prosthesis, and if Zirconia is harder than the acrylic, won't it ware down the acrylic over time with chewing & so on? Plus I just don't like the idea of getting 2 different types of prosthesis.

A good question. No answer?
@NiteLifeBuzzPage11 ай бұрын
@@Ladynipchick2 Unfortunately I never got a clear answer from a doctor, but I got my replacements since asking this question & I opted to go with Zirconia prosthesis for both arches, and even though the Zirconia is pretty heavy in the hand, it feels perfectly fine on my lower arch. I didn't think having something as hard as Zirconia on one arch & something softer (acrylic) on the lower arch was practical. So if you're getting this procedure, go with the Zirconia for both arches.

@@NiteLifeBuzzPage Thank you so much for answering. I'm going for my assessment this Friday, and will be hoping they agree to do a complete restoration, top and bottom, All on 4. I need to be back at work a few days after surgery. In your opinion, was it that painful and will I need to take it easy for a week or more (hope not!)?
@NiteLifeBuzzPage11 ай бұрын
@@Ladynipchick2No prob! I did my surgery under IV anesthesia and I had zero pain when I woke up or for the next few days. There was discomfort, but I had no pain. But please understand that this may be very different for you. I did My procedure out of town, so I had a couple days rest before flying back home. The plan was to give me 6 implants in each arch, but it was changed to (all-on-) 5 during surgery for reasons I totally understand. Not happy with, but I get it. They were placed in odd locations. Not evenly spaced apart like they show you in the examples. Some facilities may give you fixed temporary teeth while you heal over the next few months, but I was given removeable dentures. Some doctors prefer this, some don't. Hope that helps

@@NiteLifeBuzzPage I'm very grateful to you for such thorough answers. I'm definitely going for Zirconia! Can I ask several more questions? Were you happy with the functionality of your teeth fairly quickly? Were you pleased with the aesthetics outcome? Did you have some bone removed prior to insertion of your implants? Did your face 'collapse' in immediately following removal of your teeth, before being fitted with your temporary set? I'm dreading that! It's wonderful to be able to communicate directly with someone who has been through a type of procedure that I may be going through very soon!

Confused. At the end of the patient's interview she is asked whether she preferred the "gold standard Traditional All-on-Four" or the "Locator/Snap-In Denture" for both upper and lower she stated she would go for "implants of choice." So which type does she mean: All-on-Four or Locator?
@drgurssehmi2 жыл бұрын
She was saying that she preferred the fixed option (lower all on 4)

Thank you very much doctor. I have a hemophilia A, a bleeding disorder which limits my options. I have problems with my teeth, many are missing and the others are loose and shaking. Dentists suggest complete mouth rehabilitation. Do you think i stand any chance to go for basal implant, given that hemostatic management can be effectively done using factor 8 replacement and other agents. Hope you cover this topic in your informative videos

How stable is a 4 implant snap in lower denture compared to a 4 implant fixed lower denture regarding mastication with resilient foods like nuts etc?

You probably know this by now but the bottom snap in denture,is only 2 implants.

I really enjoy your videos they are very informative, however I just don't see a "true dental implant bridge" being discussed in the UK. The all on 4 or all on 6 etc seem to me to just be smaller fancier dentures attached over your gums, while they look lovely when speaking... however with lips retracted I just don't like them, as a patient who lost most of her upper teeth through illness, I want my teeth on my own gums, to me that's the whole point of implant dentistry. I get we have bone loss, but why can the prothesis be an FP2 with a small amount of gum ABUTTED onto your own gum, so it doesn't look like a denture, it looks like your own teeth. Do you not do a True dental implant bridge?
@PrisonerOfReidsMind Жыл бұрын
Agreed. I was hoping that would be one of the options talked about in this video.... Since it's titled "options [...] of dental implants" I don't think dentures should have even been mentioned, they're not an implant. I was hoping for comparisons between like all-on-4, all-on-6, and full arch dental implant bridge. (and possibly even the 3-on-6, but since that's a very niche specific brand, I can understand not talking about that.)
@drgurssehmi Жыл бұрын
I've just seen this comment. Ultimately these are all true dental bridges, but there are very few situations where teeth on gums is possible and looks good (fp1). Most fp1 cases end up looking like fp2! I think I'll need to make a video to explain, because, like you I would prefer to have no fake gum, but it's not realistic in the vast majority of cases.
@PrisonerOfReidsMind Жыл бұрын
@@drgurssehmi Curious though, 1. what kind of case IS it possible in? And 2. in those cases where it's possible what are the functional differences between them and ones with fake gums? Also, if you can do a single tooth implant set into the gums and have a good result if you can avoid gum recession, why wouldn't the same thing be true for a full arch set into the gums? Personally, I don't care about how it looks. My natural teeth are "fine"... crooked, crowded, slightly discoloured, but fine.... The problem is that many of them are probably about 70% filling material, and my dentist says some of them won't have enough tooth leftover to DO another filling on them. And this will eventually be the case for ALL my teeth... I'm not sure I have a single tooth without at least 1 filling on it.... Plus I've had 2 root canals. So since I'm young (mid-30s) I just want to be proactive and replace them all at one time, instead of single implants over many years. Because I'd eventually end up with 24 implants! LOL Which I'm not even sure is possible!?!? My insurance won't cover implants because they're saying it's "only" cosmetic in my case, despite my dental history. So I'm sorely tempted to say "make my fake teeth look exactly like my current teeth!" that way it's not a cosmetic improvement, it's purely a health improvement, while hopefully keeping functionality the exact same. The only other thing that throws a wrench into this plan is that I'm autistic, so I also need to take the sensory feel against the tongue into consideration. I'm always rubbing my tongue from the tip of my teeth, up the back, and onto the hard palate and then back... having the fake gums, then a small gap, then the hard palate, would drive me nuts for the rest of my life... I know the average person gets used to it, but I know myself... I would never get used to it... I NEED it to feel as close to the same as my natural teeth as possible... Hence, preferring an arch that's set into the gums. And I just can't wrap my head around why it wouldn't work? And why is there so little educational information about it? It's probably pointless, since I'll never be able to afford it, and I'm sure insurance won't budge anyway.... but I'd still like to arm myself with the knowledge regardless.

Hello, I was wondering if you could help with a problem, I am struggling with ill health and have been for many years. I take multiple medications that have effected me physically and unfortunately my teeth have suffered greatly. Due to my disabilities I am unable to work, and so I cannot afford to see a private dentist, but I fear my nhs dentist is not enough to prevent total tooth loss. I'm mid thirties and see my dentist every couple of months, my teeth are crumbling away, I'm in constant pain, and I'm scared I will have bone loss, as I can see my face/jaw changing shape dramatically in a short amount of time. I don't want to look in the mirror or see anyone because it looks awful and I constantly have a disgusting taste in my mouth. Please advise what I can do
