For anyone wanting to do this I would just suggest getting a low profile 550 or get a wx3100 which is also a low profile and they both cost around 60$

Low profile GPU is of course the most convenient solution and if you find one at good price you should go with it. However, low profile cards are generally considerably more expensive, at least in some parts of the world. Here in Finland the used market is very small, second-hand low-profile GPUs are very rare (and i mostly deal with used stuff). At the same time, most of cheap used PC's are SFF, so that's why i make these kinds of videos.

Thanks, i haven't tested with 3020, but in my first video i did the same with 3010. I tried reading off a script in my first videos, that didn't help really in my case, i think im just a laggy person :)

This internal restructuring exactly what I've been thinking about to do with my model! I have a few queries. When you connected this bigger GPU with your sff, how did you know this exact card would work with your Dell Optiplex? Like, I know gtx1650 will run battlefield 4 on a 7010 sff, but I'm thinking of trying to connect a non-low profile GPU. However, I'm not sure what GPU a 7010 sff can or will support. And power usage! Should I worry about upgrading my 7010 sff power supply to accommodate the new GPU with its extension cable? I'm going to update the ram to 16g or more and I will probably add an i7 processor btw. But the gpu thing is really bugging me. I'm considering a case sawp as well, but since the 7010 sff has such a small motherboard compared to other computers, it only adds to the doubts about which gpu I could use with it.

Whether you go with caseswap or not, the GPU compatibility with mobo should not be a problem. As i understand, the PC/mobo does not know or care whether a GPU is low profile or not. Power supply could be a problem with 1650, but caseswap should solve that.

Yes it should work. I always test the cards externally like that before i install them.

@@alessandrosykesj2410 It did work, but I eventually got annoyed with it (partially because I didn't want to do all the steps) and ended up just placing it in the 4 pin slot. It is surprisingly powerful, and I only had like 10% decrease in performance. Drawback of course is that, you have to keep the case open to use it, which means that dust can collect, and making it so you have to clean it every few weeks. If you want I can send a picture. I get Valorant high graphics - 160fps Apex lower graphics - 80fps (can drop to 55fps, so lowest is often times more reliable. Warzone almost lowest graphics - 70fps. Call of duty md2 lower graphics - 90fps. So yeah, still works with in the 4 pin slot, so if you have a 1650, a optiplex ssf. You might as well just stick it in the small black one, as it is only a 10% decrease, and significantly easier than trying to make it work with a dumb riser cable setup. Hope this helped :D

This is great! I'm concerned about the power supply though. Will this case fit an atx psu? Also, any cpu cooler like the hyper 212, will that fit in this case?

Thanks! PSU with 220w wattage i think is more than enough for a 50w RX550. 80w RX560 might be closer to the limit, but that would probably still work. This case would certainly not fit an ATX PSU or a 212 evo. And any other CPU cooler might actually be worse than the original in this small and cramped layout, the original blower fan is designed so that it exhausts hot air out of the case, conventional fan would not be as effective here, it would just keep taking in the same hot air it exhausts. Of course, if one would mod the case, making more holes for ventilation, then a conventional fan/cooler could work.

Likely does not apply. Unfortunately the trend with small OEM PCs often is that the newer it is, the weaker the PSU. You need to open the side panel and check your PSU wattage.

@Optimally Obscure Performance, Does max RAM depend on BIOS version? I have one with A15, but don't know if I should order 8 or 16 GB for a total 16 or 24 GB of RAM? I've read it take 16 and 32 GB but not sure what's the reason is.

So you have an Optiplex 790 SFF? I only installed 8 GB in this, can't confirm that 16GB works but it looks like it does, Dell's website says 16GB will work. If you have problems with memory compatibility, BIOS update is always something you can try. Before buying RAM, it is good to check whether your PC has 2 or 4 RAM slots.

Yes i think it was 240w. I would recommend maybe RX460, RX560, RX550, or GTX950, GTX1050, GTX1050ti. Anything that fits and doesn't require a 6-pin additional power from PSU. Some variants of those cards do require 6-pin and some are too big to fit inside.

Well, that (low profile GPU) is of course the most convenient solution but the price and availability really seems to depend, I cannot find any cheap used ones in my country, whereas cheap full-size versions are quite easy to come by. And i would not buy an expensive brand new card for (relatively) old and cheap PC.
