Would be nice to see same images with and without filter and how much better is it than say the sybony.

Yeah, should have done it. Anyways, here's with UHC ibb.co/wRXz6Zx and here's with L-extreme ibb.co/n83Q92c. Similar exposure, about 6 hrs. Hope this helps :)

Interesting about the Halos. I have used the L-Extreme on two different telescopes and haven't seen halos like that. I wonder if its variations in manufacturer or perhaps the location of the filter. I use mine with a filter wheel and so the filter is close to the sensor.. between the reducer and sensor. Nice final images at the end. :)

Indeed that is very interesting. I have another friend who too reported the issue with star halos and tried to dissuade me from getting L extreme due to this. It could be the placement, I will have a look.

The halos shows up more of faster F telescopes....

Very good informative video so thanks for sharing, I have watched videos about the L Extreme & there does seem to be some quality issues with these as some perform better than others, I very nearly bought one but found out that they don't perform well on fast imaging systems so I went for the IDAS NBZ filter instead, the only downside is that its a 12nm bandpass so if there's a narrower bandpass filter out there that performs well at F2 then I'll probably buy one to replace it.

Yeah you are right they can be a bit unpredictable in terms of quality. Perhaps, I have a bad copy? Have you tried ANTLIA GOLDEN DUAL BAND FILTER? Its 5nm.

@@AstroOnBudget From what I've read they work on systems up to F3.2 or thereabouts so not to sure if they will work at F2, bit of an expensive gamble if they don't so I'll wait & do some more digging around first to see if I can find out anything more.

100% love it now just need one for galaxies and I will be set.

Excellent 👍 which one are you thinking of getting for galaxies?

@@AstroOnBudget honestly still reading up on it but seen a few pic,s with the optolong pro that people have taken and looks promising still a read in progress.

Thanks for the video, but I am more interested to know how to get the best cost benefit, of course this filter is great, but is it worth to purchase over other cheaper solutions? Like a UHC? Or others lower budget narrow band filters?
@AstroOnBudget2 жыл бұрын
Hey Andre, I think it largely depends on how picky you are. I think L extreme isn't a necessity for me. It's slightly more powerful than my UHC and has much narrow light pass but I don't think it's like a holy grail for astrophotography. In short, yes you capture more data and cleaner one. But I don't think it is radically different than UHC. So it's a luxury product rather than necessity.

Nice but I think it's for emission nebula not reflection?

What kind of camera did. You have it paired with? I'm getting a set of used filters L extreme L-pro Baader Neodymium I have bottle 4 skies so not that bad but thinking this particular filter could be nice. Just hoping this halo problem. Won't be to bad on my setup Any ideas on how to test and try to get it to show if the issue is there?

I used this with SVBONY 405C camera. Halo problem is in some copies of L-extreme. Other copies dont have this optical problem.

l-eNhance is better imo. Not technically a dualband but its close enough that for 99% of purposes it makes no difference. And much less intense halos.
