Hold up, why is this chaconne written in that way? Is it scordatural notation for muscle memory? So the key signature only works for 4th string?

My understanding is that you play the piece as if your violin is tuned to the standard GDAE, and the notes on the staff correlate to where you place your fingers on the fingerboard rather than the actual note that is being produced.

you read thenotes as if everything was normal; so if without scordatura it was written f sharp on the e string, you still put 1st finger on the e string, whih is now tuned down to d from the scordatura. (sorry hard to explain not really )
