This lady who plays The Oracle is truly amazing. Didn't pay much attention to her when I was younger but now I can see how she fits into this role so brilliantly. She maintains the enigma -- she's a programme, she has personality, is she trustworthy, what does she wants really, how she knows everything but doesn't know something, does she really not know it or is she pretending she doesn't know it? I hang on to every word she utters, searching her face for more answers, just like Neo. That's how good she is. The substitute Oracle doesn't have this effect on me. RIP Gloria Foster

Yeah Gloria Foster was perfectly cast but I thought the woman who played the Oracle in Revolutions did a good job given the impossible shoes she had to fill. They both present themselves as calm and collected and gentle and absolute. I think Foster gave the role a bit more fun and confidence and ego that really helped the idea of her being a sentient AI.

It makes sense that she doesn't have the same affect on us since her program was "reset" so to speak. With her source code being handed off the the Marivingean, it's as if her code that gave her that loving grandmother personality was lost as well. So the new Oracle is more serious looking and gives off a different vibe that seems a bit more sinister.

Both Oracles are great for me. The first is more motherly, but the second has a more quiet wisdom to her. But at the end both capture the essence of the character, with gestures and word choices that direct the attention of the red pill and the conversation to produce exactly the effect she wants, relying more on framing the information and omission than denying access to it or using lies.

In Matrix the Orical manipulates Neo and Trinity to fall in love, leading to the climax in Revolutions because Neo chose to save her in Reloaded. This changed the "One's" choice by having him reject the deal all previous anomalies had taken, by resetting Zion and the Matrix. The Orical also didn't leave the matrix like she should have when agent Smith was taking over, allowing agent Smith to gain a major part of the code for the Matrix, resulting in him becoming a major threat to the machines in the Machine City. At the end of Revolutions the Architect and the Orical have a discussion in which in Architect says that the Orical played a dangerous game, by causing the aforementioned changes to the formula. She responds that change always is and that her ultimate goal is peace between man and machine.

I have two answers to Neo’s questions based on this: 1. How can I trust you? The Oracle did not try to convince him anything, but he trusted her anyways, because he took a candy from her. I think Neo accepting her candy is a sign that he trusted her. (Also, he chose to sit next to her despite being reluctant at the beginning. Proximity to someone is another sign of trust, this scene is omitted in this clip) 2. Are you saying I have to choose whether Trinity lives or die? Neo already made his choice, it’s the choice presented to him at the Architect’s room (right door-save Zion, left door save Trinity, he chose the left all along, that’s why he could see Trinity falling in his dream)

This is why some of the Matrix comics like "Get it" exists. *This is why the first film makes mention of how "mankind marveled in our own magnificence as we gave birth to A.I.", artificial intelligence.* Romans1:20-23 20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. *22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,* 23And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God *into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.* *(Such as the theory of evolution, for example)* Agent Smith's admission that evolution is a lie and part of the system to keep a person's mind off of God... It is to say that we fancy our wisdom so much that it's actually distorting the perspective from the ultimate truth, and it's precisely our wisdom and education that is hindering us from understanding the ultimate truth. This is why what we say might sound fancy and nice when we quote from the film, but unless we come to the knowledge of God and Jesus which this film is about, we will always remain in The Matrix, because we willingly choose it. 2 Timothy 3:7 - *Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.* kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGjHpah3arqBidE

The Oracle is manipulated the whole thing since the beginning. She used subliminal messages and suggestions to force ideas into Trinity and Morpheus head. She prepared Trinity, so that's she'll be crazy in love with Neo and will be decisive force to influence his decisions when he facing the Architect and she arranged Morpheus to be his mentor and protector. She's carefully guided and trained Neo, developing his ability. Who know how many code is in the cookie Neo ate in the first film. she created an illusive bargain between human and machine by deliberately gave Smith her godly power. "You both will either die together or stop fighting and cooperate". At the end of saga, Neo is successfully negotiated with the Machine gods, get hardwired and fight with Smith. Smith get very confused because he know very well that they're both has ability of foresight and it's clear that Neo has no chance. No matter what Neo do, He will still lose, then why he kept fighting. Why fight when there's no hope!!. (Smith can't see pass the end because he didn't understand why Neo kept fighting) Then the Oracle speak through Smith, Neo realized at the end he's still in the palm of her hand, Smith gets even more confuse. Unable to understand, Smith just want to delete Neo and doing so with his own demise. He's assimilated Neo, who is now hardwired to the mainframe "The source". With this physical connection, the machine god is able to analyses and remove all smith code from system, clean up of any bad code and reload the matrix. Smith is fucked. He's thought he fight 1 on 1 with Neo but in reality he's fought 1 on 3 with Neo+Oracle+Machine god. At the very end, conversation between the Oracle and the Architect reveal that they're both know this from the start. This just like a match between pro chess player and the Oracle is the winner.

*The Oracle: “You seen it??” “In your dreams??” “Haven’t you??” “The door made of light.” “What happens when you go through the door??” Every dream is different. The vision of the light and walking through the door is an experience I will never forget. It is best to WAKE UP, rather than complete the dream. So that, I may continually have a message to look forward to forever.*

But Neo didn't answer her question. He gave an irrelevant answer. It was approximated by him. Yet Oracle tested Neo by asking whether Trinity dies to which Neo says No. But actually Neo saw her die in her dream. And that's why he made a choice to not let Trinity to involve in further missions. But because we cannot see past the choice we do not understand it is why he is still trust Oracles words to understand Why? The reason why he took the candy but didn't eat it. The reason why he cannot understand his dream of Trinity dying is the cookie given by Oracle. Cookie contains the dream code and where he has to reach. Rest all Neo's free will because one way or other the war will come to an end. This is where Neo's free will and Oracles predestination were balanced together in the end of Revolutions.

Never mind it makes perfect sense. Its meant for someone viewing an action when they don't understand what's going on What does that mean? We can't see past, choices we don't understand. I understand myself. If we didn't understand something how can we make a choice. Can someone rephrase the question its a statement that seems true but makes no sense or I cant make sense of it. @@chidera7031 variables you don't understand are undefined. X = null

@@chidera7031 When you see a snail climbing up a potted plant's pot, you can simulate the following minutes: It will climb up and start eating a leaf. If you didn't understand snails, you couldn't simulate its future behaviour. Similarly in any other situation, if you don't understand your own motivations, or someone elses, or there are other variables in the environment you live in, you can't predict the future. Hence, how far you can look into the future (predict/simulate) is limited by how far away there is a variable you don't understand.

In my opinion, if Morpheus was like a god in each religion, oracles were like people who could communicate with spirits. We believe that these people have something that allows them to guide human beings. But what keeps these people in contact with human beings is because they have not completely abandoned their passions (I love Candy). He is facing the next test, "Love". He has to prove the feeling of "love" in its purest form. Next then the agent comes back because he sees the weakness point of Neo which is the passion (sexual desire). He needs to prove himself in this point for being The One.

If Neo still can’t make the choice after he’s been unplugged from the matrix of the world he he believed to be real all his life, then in theory he’s waking up to another matrix under control of the programmer. In the original matrix he lived in, had the personality of Mr. Anderson’s life, but as soon as he got unplugged from the first layer of the matrix he grained new personality as Neo. Mr. Anderson and Neo are not the same people in personality. They completely have a different way of thinking, including the persona. If he was able to make the choice, then he would be free from all simulations and computer systems. I recently had what it was called a spiritual awakening, and just like that, it felt like somebody totally reprogrammed me to give me a whole new personality, even though I have the memories of my old personality. I feel like a totally different person from a different dimension, and even my mannerisms and behavior are more natural to change over time with that new person. The way I see this is we are NPC in simulated reality. So basically saying that choice is illusion means that, even though we think we make the choice that in reality is pre undetermined, and everything we do. Basically, the computer program know what I’m gonna eat a week down the road before I crave it. To Reprogrammed anybody in the system with a new personality is so easy because our brains are computers, and all they have to do is change the code and upload a new personality into our mind. When that happens, we have no control of how we feel and behave. If we try to convince ourselves, we are original personalities. Confinement of our programming will not allow us. When I had this major awakening, I had no choice but painfully self identify as because of my authentic self identifying as an Anime Magical Teen Girl Goddess.

When choices are made for you there is no understanding. There is only the knowledge of choice. Like ordering from a menu in a foreign language, you can choose an entree, but you dont really know what your about to eat. When applied to politics and the making of laws it's easy to see why it never brings the order it claims. On confusion and conflict is birthed in such a manner.
