Thank you so much for making this video about looking after your teeth, the proper way! Wish I’d seen this years ago, as I have gum disease now and I’m trying to save the teeth I have left.

7:15 “never scrub along the gum line with toothpaste” but at 4:00 you say get the bristles under the gum. This is alarmingly confusing. Am I damaging my gums and promoting gum disease if I touch them with my toothbrush?

@@jeffgraham1389 The plaque must be removed from under the gum line to prevent inflammation and to prevent bone loss. However, if you apply too much force, especially with the addition of the abrasive present in the toothpaste, trauma and gum recession is likely to occur. If you perform the techniques as they are demonstrated on the video, with an appropriate amount of pressure on the manual toothbrush or power plaque remover, you should be able to accomplish this. Of course, as I state in the video, there is no substitute for hands-on training or verification of technique by a licensed dental professional. I hope this clarifies this point for you.

Replacing a tooth costs $4000 a pop. Pay for the cleaning.
