Halloumi cheese is high in protein and fats and low in carbohydrates, making it suitable for keto or low carb diets. Walnuts are high-fat, low-carb, and vitamin-rich so they’re also great for keto. And the salad dressing is yoghurt, walnut oil and lemon. This salad is gluten free (I'm allergic to gluten).
Please note apples are not considered keto or low carb as they contain carbs and fruit sugars, and so do oranges (carb content and protein content listed below). Tomatoes also contain a small amount of carbs and fruit sugars, so the tomatoes, oranges and apples should only be consumed in small quantities or not at all if you're following a strict keto diet. You can leave the apple, oranges and tomato out of your salad if you want a true keto salad.
The walnuts were grown in the Canterbury region of New Zealand.
Protein:
Halloumi contains 21g of protein per 100g.
Walnuts contain 15g of protein per 100g.
Yoghurt contains 10g of protein per 100g.
One egg contains 6g of protein.
One avocado contains 3 g protein.
Carbohydrates:
Halloumi contains only 1.6g of carbs per 100g.
One egg contains only 0.6 g of carbs.
1 cup of chopped cucumber contains only 4g of carbs.
Oranges contain 12g carbs per 100g.
Apples contain 14g carbs per 100g.
One small tomato contains 3.5 grams of carbs.
1 cup of full fat Plain Greek Yoghurt 15g total carbs.
Walnuts contain 14 g carbs per 100g.
One avocado contains 13 g carbs.
The keto diet requires a carb intake of less than 50 grams per day.
