I wish orange would make a rockerverb with 2 gain channels. The gain channel is so versatile on these amps.

Thanks so much for doing a review of this amp! I had been doing a ton of research on this exact model, because I found one for a pretty good price, and I wanted a 100W head that was more lower mid focused for dessert/stoner rock/doom/metal and even some hard rock, and this amp seemed to fit the bill. The problem was, it's a pretty old amp, so there aren't a ton of reviews or samples on KZbin, and the one's that do exist don't really do a good job of covering that versatility of the amp, and only show it in the context of the reviewer's preferred style. I don't have a shop close to me with this amp, so I had to buy it online based on all the reviews, forum discussions and KZbin samples, but it's really have to form an opinion based on all that, especially the subjectiveness of people's personal tastes... I went ahead and ordered the amp, and will hopefully be receiving it relatively soon, but I have to say that your review has really put my mind at ease, because the tone's your players were getting confirmed my gut feeling that this amp should be a good fit for what I play. It seems that some of the criticism this amp gets comes form people have expectations of what an amp "should" sound like based on the genres of music they grew up with, but if you're into bands like Sleep, Boris, QOTSA, YOB etc. the specific type of distortion this amp is voiced to have is what's needed... it's not a JCM 800, or the highly production ready tone of a Friedman BE100 etc. And it's not trying to be those things, it is it's own things. I have a Friedman JJ Jr. which kind of covers the modded Marshall ground, so I wanted something a little different, and I think this should hit the spot. Now I can't wait to play it.

Enjoy your new amp! Will be a nice compliment to the JJ for sure 🤘

DUDE!!!!! I hope you're ripping the hell outta that DOUBLE J. I want one so bad but I could never afford it being disabled and on a fixed income. Jerry is my favorite player hands down, and always has been. I have his signature Les Paul Custom Wino and have done a few tasteful upgrades to make it more like his specs, and I will say without a doubt it's my favorite guitar I've ever played or owned hands down and I've had a few lol. It's just so badass it's beyond words. Rock on forever brother!!!

To my ear, it's not a bad amp. The cleans weren't that attractive especially when compared to that of the Diezel Herbert, Friedman Buxom Betty and BE100. In regards to gain level, it's definitely got enough for Holt's Day but sounds a little buzzy; I've never been the biggest fan of Orange gain tones. To me, the Friedman BE100 is still leading the charge as the most tonally satisfying overall amp from clean, classic rock to high gain. Loved seeing that aged Gibson SG back in the picture! Killer amp demo series. Keep rock'in. Edit (20Sep22 - Note to self): After revisiting this demo again, I'm augmenting my opinion on it from a just OK to it being a solid and cost effective alternative (for rock and metal tones) to the two other lower-mid focused amps tested thus far, namely: 1) Wizard MTL which impressed with excellent high gain metal tones 2) Diezel Herbert which failed to impress as its gain tone sounded somewhat 'bloated' and bit 'plastic' to me by comparison. Its clean channel however being a standout tonal exception. Looking forward to the Diezel VH4 test now.

Agreed it’s not bad, it’s actually pretty good! But it just can't compete with some of the big boys.

I have the Rockerverb MKii 100 and have to says it's really a great bang for buck on the used market at the moment. It's true that it is low mid focused, but putting an eq in the loop and boosting some highs really brightens it up really well (if anyone were to worry about cutting through the mix). I have the Friedman JJ Jr. and even though it's a 20W amp, it does the signature Friedman sound that's got that "produced" quality to it, which differs from the rawness of the Orange. I like the 'produced" quality of the Friedman, but I also like the rawness and hairiness of the Orange. I play mostly metal and alternative rock, and I would say depending on the kind of metal and rock you play, this amp is a great option. It's not as tight as some modern metal amps, but an eq in the loop and a tube screamer or SD-1 in front really tightens things up and adds even more aggression.

Had a Rockerverb mkll and loved it playing at home. Set for mid gain crunch it was thick and chewy compared to my vintage 2203’s. So forgiving and easy to play. Didn’t translate to a loud gig though where it sounded abit flat and uninspiring.

I've found when playing live, using an EQ in the loop to boost some highs and lows to tighten it up really makes a huge difference, and it sounds awesome.

I already knew that, but so far it is my least favorite amp from the vault. Too tight and and this fizzy top end is not for me. Great crunch sound with the telecaster though

Yep the humble Rockerverb has some very, very stiff competition in the vault. Still, a pretty cool amp all-round.
