The interesting thing I think is that all three of these men physically don't look all that much different from most Irish nationalists, north or south especially the two lads with the moustaches. When you take away the sashes and the accent it's really only the hardness in the eyes and the wariness in the face that might give them away as Northern unionists. If all three were to break into a genuine smile they would give off the same amiability in a physical sense as is associated with all Irish people everywhere.

Might sound like a simplistic statement, however in the 1990's growing up it was one that many repeated and thought. Funny to look at on this now, but at one time that was a commonly held view. Any Republican who is/was unhappy in Northern Ireland had the choice to leave and go 'South' to the Republic of Ireland.
